I ordered a new SA Savage bolt face on 2-13-25 and didn't receive an order confirmation. No big deal, right? 2 weeks later, wondering if I'd made an error ordering, sent an email basically stating as such and that I hadn't received a conformation.... another week no response.

Today I called and talked to a young lady who promptly transferred my call to a Mr Stan Sinclair. As politely possible, I let him know that it may have been a mistake of my own but have not received a confirmation. He seemed terribly bothered by the whole ordeal, with grunts and huffs during my explanation, he simply says, "OK". I listened for further instructions, with none given, I seen the notification of a received email.

Upon seeing the email, I asked the obvious question. With more grunts and huffs he says," should be there today or tomorrow. "

The last time I ordered the same bolt head but in L.A. from Midway without a hitch. I knew what was being sent almost immediately and within a few days when it would arrive.

I guess I expect too much from people.

Will post a review of headspace and functionality after installation.

I try to be pleasant and polite any time I need to use customer service but sometimes it pays to get huffy right back at them. It has nothing to do with guns but my son once sent a set of HD iron head sportster heads off to be ported, polished, and with new valve guides and valves installed to the supposed best shop available that did that work. The motorcycle sized a valve in three miles. He called and talked to the shop owner complaining that someone did,not do their job. The owner said he did them and was he saying he didn't know what he was doing. The kid stood up to him and told that was exactly what he was saying and that he didn't ream the valve guide which was obvious. The owner refunded some of his money. I had the correct reamer so he purchased another valve guide and reamed it and it ran fine after that.

Nice usually gets the job done but sometimes it doesn't.

It's been several years but I ordered their one piece lightweight aluminum bottom metal to replace the heavy steel 2 piece bottom metal for a couple of Winchester 70's. I never spoke to a person, just ordered online and got what I ordered in a timely manner. Sounds like I was lucky.

The only thing I've ordered directly from PTG recently (last year) was one of their one-piece Remington 700 bolts with an M16-type extractor.

The order process has a relatively steep learning curve for a Remage novice like me, but it worked out very well in the end.

I placed my order online and it sounds like I was fortunate not to deal with their customer service.

I've also had them make a custom chamber reamer, but I ordered that a couple decades back and I can no longer recall what the experience was like.

As far a good customer service experiences go, two of the best for me were Match Grade Machine (custom T/C barrels) and MDT (rifle chassis). I've ordered from both a couple times now and their prompt and responsive answers to my questions were excellent.

I ordered the same a couple of years ago for my M70. I ordered over the phone; the lady who took my order was super nice, the part came on time and was a quality item. I guess that I'm lucky too.

I built wildcats for years. Hated to order reamers. The reamer makers wanted a detailed print, and it was usually at least several months wait. Plus you were on a waiting list that wasn't worked in order received. It was quicker to make one. A friend told me about Dave Kiff at Pacific tool and gauge. I called and he answered the phone. Told him what I was building, he took the reamer dimensions over the phone and credit card numbers. In less than 2 weeks the reamer with a live pilot and reamer print was in hand. I don't know how many reamers he made for me over the years. Every reamer was as perfect as any I ever used. His prices were very competitive, service was excellent. The last reamers I bought was through a custom Smith that built some revolver cylinders for me. He ordered the reamers from Pacific and wait time was several months and phone calls by him later. Several guys have said things have changed, wait times are long, customer service is not what it was. I hate to hear that. Makes me sad. The last 2 reamers I ordered from him were a .14 and .17 caliber on a 25 acp case. If a reamer can be beautiful they are. Amazingly accurate in detail, cut perfect, slick chambers. Time changes things, often not for the better.

I ordered a Ruger SA gate detent clamp from them a couple of years ago. I got an email saying they were out of stock. My credit card was charged. I never received another email and I literally forgot about it.
Months later, 6 or 7 maybe, a little envelope showed up with the clamp and a packing slip. No explanation no note about the delay.
I just chalked it up to crappy business practices.
