Painting my front sight.

Sharpie now has paint pens in a bunch of colors. I used a green one to paint in the dead tritium dot on a front sight yesterday and it looks better than the tritium did!

+1 on the Birchwood Casey Super Bright Touch-Up Sight Pens.

If you look at the front sight you can see the orange. It's really nice when you are viewing it as an actual sight picture but I don't have any photos to show.

Tequilla Sunrise Nail Polish does the job better than most. All my front sights wear it as does my wife's toes.

I've always used model paint - costs like $1 or so at Wal-Mart. I've used white many times.

My old model 66 with the original SS sights are nearly impossible to see in some lighting conditions and they need help. Using sight paint will be much easier and cheaper than changing to new sights. I am red/green color blind but the bright flourescant orange over a white base coat seems to be a good color for me for the front sight but what about the rear sight?

For a good sight picture that can be acquired and lined up quickly, what color would be best for the rear sight for contrast?

Dave
