Painting/refinishing stainless?

In a part of Utah that resembles Tattooine.
I'm bargain shopping for a varmint configuration upper. (Something like a 24"Bushmaster Varminter.) I would prefer a dark-finished barrel, but if I find one that's perfect except a stainless finish, what could I use to re-finish it without making it look like the pinewood derby car I made when I was 9?
 
You can top coat it with Duracoat,but "bead blasting" the
metal will be the key to it sticking good.Also a good cleaning
with MEK will make all the difference.
I've had great results with Alumahide II from Brownells.
 
Yes you can have stainless steel finished in a dark color. Duracoat is OK but far from the best . If you want to do it yourself use KG Gunkote it is better then Duracoat.

I am getting ready to have our whole house painted inside and I am thinking about hiring it done. We want to add some color to the walls and we were wondering about how much it would cost to have a 3,000sq ft. home with 9' ceilings painted. I have never hired anyone to do painting before so I don't have a clue what paint and labor would cost me. Please suggest me.
 
do i need to make the white background of an image transparent?

What version of Photoshop do i need to make the white background of an image transparent? I need a free program or the cheapest version of Photoshop to make completely white backgrounds of images (such as pictures on internet) transparent, so when i put them on another image, the actual picture comes without the white.
 
There is actually a way to "blue" stainless but you need to take it to your local gunsmith to have it done as it requires hot bluing tanks,but using different chemicals. Another option would be to phospate finish it such as parkerizing it,then leaving as is,or applying baken on oven cured finish on top of the phospate finish as it makes EXCELLENT base for the cured spray finish.

You can use Rust-oleum or some sort of spray paint. As long as you sand the SS up nice, prime it and paint it, it should work out fine.

I have to say, the only cheap way out of this is not going to look really good.

Plus, vermin aren't going to care if your finish is scratched or not from 200 yards.
