I see some shoot paper carts in their pistols with no lube. Wouldn't they chainfire?

Those that use combustible envelope paper cartridges, do you top with lube? Do you incorporate lube into the cartridge?

I use a cardboard plug from a cereal box and then a lube pill, then the ball or conical.Cardboard keeps the lube pill from contaminating the powder in summer.also I have found that .452 carts only need .375 lube pills. Makes loading the carts easier with the smaller pill.I am not using lubed wads.

they will no more chainfire than bulk powder alone the bullet should act as a seal
some people cut wads from cereal boxes and place above the cart. and below the projectile and lube
I rarely use round ball anymore. I use a conical bullet with lube grooves and a very thick lube
that does not separate and drip even in very warm weather. plus as the bullet is seating a very small
amount of the lead around the grooves is rolled up sealing the grooves from below

I use Gatofeo's #1 lube in the grooves of my bullets. Like DD4 above I don't use a ball much any more. I drop the bullets in just past the lube groove and it seems to hold them in place rather well.

Not saying that chainfires can't or don't happen from the front but my father most certainly had one happen while we were at the range despite the use of felt wads meaning his absolutely came from the rear. I'm not sure what caps he was using or if they fit tightly. I've never had one even when I used Rem #11's that needed a pinch to stay on. Rem #10's fit both pistols nicely.

Just what conicals fit a Colt, Remington or R&S revolver, not caliber, length, the few I've tried just won't fit under the lever recess while on the gun.
Received several hundred nice little round nose in 36 caliber for a 1851 Navy and Spiller and Burr. Just could not seat them on gun. Melted them down and re-casted as rb's.

When I got my NMA from Pietta I assumed it had the slow twist everyone mentioned (1:30"). So when I created a custom mold I designed one to be roughly the length of a ball (.460") and another that is shorter (.400"). These easily fit under the ram lengthwise. However the frame being squared wouldn't allow the wide nose to fit so I had to open up the loading port area. I'm not sure if any bullet that fits in a Pietta NMA without modification.

As it turns out the barrel is a faster 1:16" twist but shoots these well. I've been working on a modified version having gained a bit of knowledge concerning these. For one I found that both my NMA and ROA have a preferred powder charge no matter what projectile I use so I want to increase the length of my bullets to be the filler, among other things.

Accurate Molds will create most anything you can come up with.

So long as the bullet leaves a ring shaving, you're good to go. It's sealed from the front. It's the caps that you have to worry about.
