Hey guys, I'm new to the forums, been lurking for a while, but only just started posting. I was just wondering about what your guys backgrounds are...

It seems that a lot of you guys are cops, etc.... just wondering if there is anyone else like me -- I'm in my mid-twenties, not a LEO, never shot a gun growing up other then a BB gun, or black powder while I was in boy scouts, and my dad isn't into guns at all. In fact, I just bought my first gun in Jan. simply because I've just always wanted to get into it. I mostly just target practice and bought for home security, but I am thinking about possibly getting a CCW even though I doubt I will carry all the time.

Share if you want to, if not, I won't be offended, just wondering...

Here's a little list to make it easy... this would be mine:

First I'll give you my background:

Marine,
CCW PERMIT for 3 years (Note the difference)
Gunsite, Tactical Response, Iraq, Former Practical pistol shooter.
24years old
Got my first 1911 at 15... started shooting ~ 10.

Now, The better shooters are NOT cops/Military, because excepting a few nuts like me it's just a job...
I've had my @$$ KICKED in a rifle match by a farmer from Texas who had never been LEO or Military.

Because it's NOT a job to a civillian, it's a passion.
-Now those LEO or military for who it IS a passion... we are at a distinct advantage.

I was brought home from being born, placed into my dresser drawer crib and my Maternal Grandma put MY revolver with holster in that crib with me.

LEO: no, had them along with Military folks for Mentors
Age: Just turned 52 a few days ago
Years of gun experience: Age 3 shot My revolver, Age 6 shot my first 1911
Gun education: How raised- What you do
CCW: Before the state even had pieces paper, and again how raised what you do.
I started apprenticing when I was 13 years old, CCW was a Model 10 snubby.

Sixth grade, only broke 2 targets on my first round of skeet. In the 7th, ran my first 200 straight.
Vietnam War going on while in HS, and I wanted to help raise money for a guy we all knew, and did come back whole. Jimi Hendrix had just died.
Some say some of my Mentors were bootleggers and hustlers...
All I know is for 5 days I shot 200 targets and did not miss a one.
I gave this guy my part of the shoot $1000.00 in cold hard cash.
I was shooting for $1 a bird until I missed. I missed bird 1019.
I needed the $19 for a sick sibling [Mentors made me keep that $19].

I am nobody, never was, never wanted to be, still don't want to be.
I just happened to have been invited to join THR is all.
