Pellet shortages?

I layed in a fair supply last year knowing I was moving to a remote island in Northern Michigan not really thinking there could be a shortage like regular ammunition. Now I’m thinking with the war on lead the environmental groups are waging it might be a good idea to bolster the stock pile a bit more. I see some of the premium stuff is going for what I used to pay for a brick of 22 LR!

I just got a shipment from Pyramid Air. I had originally backordered some H&N Excites and the nice phone person upgraded me to Crossman Competitions. My order for 2K was under $30, including shipping. She said that the foreign pellets aren't getting shipped, maybe Covid related?

Vogels are also good pellets and American made.

Pyramyd Air has pellets in stock at normal prices. They have their buy 3 tins get 1 free policy, and they have a $10 coupon offer for purchases of $50 or more.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t fortifying my pellet stocks.

Its far easier for me to store pellets then real ammunition even .22LR. I keep a fair bit of real ammo but I want to be able to shoot my airguns at a whim at any time for X number of years without worry and storing an ample supply of pellets is feasible for my purposes.

The reality is the older I get the more pleasure I get from my airguns vs my “real guns”. Not that I don’t like to shoot it’s just that the airguns provide me with instant gratification whenever I want where even BEST CASE scenario I have to pack up guns and gear, drive somewhere, shoot, pack back home, clean etc. now most of the time that whole process is completely enjoyable but there is something to be said for I wanna shoot......I shoot.....done. :)

I anticipate more and more old school shooters giving airguns a go in the coming years and I anticipate that distribution structure to take a small hit.

Yep, I like my RWS 34 but would really like a Umarex Gauntlet 22PCP; the video I saw from Pyramid Air was amazing

I'm well stocked on reloading and casting supplies, and I can shoot firearms at home. The only downside is I'm limited to about 75 yards and I can only shoot in one direction safely. My airguns are quieter and I can shoot them in almost any direction I want to without fear of hitting anyone or anything of importance. Ammo is a lot cheaper and I hand pump my pcps so I get free propulsion and exercise at the same time.

I only use 22 cal. pellets and I'm all set for a long time into the future. I've noticed they aren't as plentiful on the shelves as they once were. Got me thinking that perhaps the panic buying has spread to air guns as well. .177 cal. pellets still seem pretty common around here.

I was browsing the Pyramyd Air site yesterday, and noticed that there were way fewer .177 wadcutter pellet options in-stock than when I posted on 12 Feb. What they had were mainly the expensive high-end match offerings.

You folks have to understand that pretty much anything directly related to the process of sending a projectile (or projectiles) down range is in high demand. This is the first panic I have seen that extends to this depth, encompassing previously untouched items like shotgun target/field loads and definitely airgun or airgun supplies.

An additional point - logistics currently is fouled up. I am seeing weeks added to in transit time internationally. Days added domestically...a tight supply chain and extended logistics...yeehaw!

Stuff is shipping pretty fast for me, but carrier delays are happening across the board. I've got orders that are delayed with every single one of them. It's frustrating.

I have recently got an order shipped fast and received in a normal shipping window of time. I have another 7,000 pellets on the way. Shortages or not it’s kinda like tuna fish for me. When I want a can I want to simply grab a can from the pantry. When I want to shoot I want to simply grab a tin from the ammo pantry. :)
