Superb way to make a point, if ignorance was the problem. Unfortunately they aren't ignorant; they're hypocrites. They know gun free zones are worthless, but don't care. Its pure politics driving this: "How can we best pretend to give a ---- about the safety of our constituents?"

You're never going to remove Secret Service protection from POTUS and family.

A petition at whitehouse.gov is supposed to bring an issue to the attention of the White House staff. There's no value in one like this being there.

The value in the idea would be to take the simple question "Why does President Obama's children rate armed guards and the children of Sandy Hook Elementary didn't?" and turn it into a viral question spreading across the internet so many people would see it. Short, simple, to the point and resonating with many on different emotional levels.

The only problem with the idea is it risks leading to the conclusion that there are credible threats to all our children and that we have to "DO SOMETHING" to protect them that includes taking guns away from all those crazy RKBA advocates.
