What's this all about, are they playing stupid or is it the camera angle?

There is probably 10 to 15 feet of lateral distance between the muzzle and Kerry's head. Like Stand_Watie said, it's the angle of the camera shot and the telephoto lens that makes it look like that.

Not too swift, anyway. He appears to have his finger on the trigger of the gun he is holding, plus he is only a few feet to the side of the other gun's muzzle and does not appear to have ear or eye protection.

I remember when New York City mayor John Lindsay, running for president, climbed on a piece of farm machinery in Iowa to make a speech claiming to know all about farming. Someone pointed out that his choice of a platform was appropriate, since it was a manure spreader. Lindsay was laughed out of Iowa and his candidacy collapsed.

Very subtle with the flag, there. And what's with the gaping maw?

And one last silly question: What are those speaker-looking things? (Our trap and skeet club was a very small affair.)

Voice Activated Trappers - say "Pull" or other gutteral moan like sound and it throws the bird automatically.

I guess this is Kerry's photo-op to "PROVE" that he supports the Second Amendment - the right to hunt and shoot trap. You don't need an Evil Black Rifle to do that. This crap makes me sick. Every politcian does this to butter up gun owners like we're a bunch of frickin' soccermoms. Shake hands, kiss babies, and shoot trap. That's how to get the votes.

Ya know what the sad part is? It works! I can hear the Democrat (and some Republican) bubbas sitting in front of the TV when they see this on the news:

"Hey - look, Martha! Ol' Kerry's got 'em a skeet gun on the tee-vee! Well, he's just like me! He's a common man! The NRA should stop pickin' on him. He LIKES guns, because they showed it on the tee-vee news!"

Also - I guess the Skull and Bonesmen never taught safety rule #3.

Looks like Kerry is wearing some kind of ear protection, like the rest of his party is doing. But, no eye protection? Not smart.

Right. No eye protection. Finger on the trigger.

And this is how he demonstrates that he's not a gun-grabber.

Reminds me of the famous Feinstein photo.
