I like stainless. Especially the high polish variety, like the Ruger Bisley Vaquero I have.

But there is just something meaningful and elegant about that deep, stately look of masterfully polished and blued steel. Two finishes come to mind. One is the Colt Royal Blue of old. The other is the old polished blue of a Smith and Wesson revolver.

Have any of you ever taken one of those beauties in your hands after cleaning, applied a light oil, wiped it down and then lightly polished with a soft cloth? The mirrored shine of that blue steel just seems right.

It may sound a bit strange, but there is something calming about looking at a fine revolver--especially blued steel. I can sit for hours admiring them. They're quite simply drop-dead gorgeous!

Thanks for sharing these great photographs of the gunmaker's art.

Dinosaur... that's a really fine trio you've got there. I've always admired that particular version of the DS, but never bought one. That's just a remarkable revolver.

Powderman... I feel exactly as you do... stainless is so easy and trouble free, but the look of a dark blue steel Smith & Wesson or Colt is amazing and unmatched for beauty. Glad you enjoy the pics...

Thanks DHart. I don't want to hijack the thread but that was the only pic I had of the 2 65s. I did have a Model 10-3 3" that I carried in my later career rather than the Colt. The recoil of 158 gr. +Ps got to be annoying. I sold that gun :banghead: and now I'm looking for a 3" 13. Tough to find.

Dhart and the rest, I couldn't agree more. I registered just so I could reply to this thread. Here is my 65-3, it is a tack driver. I ground off the hammer spur. I've had it for several years and have carried it often in a Kramer owb holster. I feel it is the perfect combat revolver. Nice to find out I'm not the only dinosaur out here!

Sorry my photography doesn't match some of yours!

ArmedCitizen... welcome to the forum! I'm glad this thread got you to participate... I think you'll really like it around here. That's a mighty fine wheeler you got there! Now that I have one, I realize how slick that bobbed hammer comes out from underneath clothing... verrrry nice and smooth!

DHart - oh my - oh my - what a treasure indeed. Handsome is hardly the word and I sure wish I could get my hands on that beauty! <envy - covet> !!

As a fellow S&W addict all I can say is, if I ever come across one or a 13 - it'll be bought even if I am on my last dime ... somehow!! I cannot post anything to match that as a parallel but seeing as I'll take any excuse to post one of my Smiths, let me show off again my own fave, which is the beloved 5" M27-2 .. I happen to be an ''N'' frame fan and find this almost the perfect balance of proportions.

Thank you for your highly excellent and atmospheric pics ... seeing size of those images however, I was glad am now on satellite ... they could actually be downsized a bit and compressed much heavier and lose very little quality.

Here is the M27 .... very downsized and compressed I admit ....

P95.. thanks so much for the post. That's a gorgeous 27 you have there! Yes, sorry about the size of the pics. I have hi-speed cable modem and forget that many do not and the big pics can really bog down. On this topic, I recently heard that in China and Korea, broadband internet access is widely offered wireless! They're way ahead of us on that, we're too busy running cables all around. Here in the USA we're woefully behind on that, But wireless broadband is the way the rest of the world is going. There are some firms now beginning to offer wireless broadband internet in the USA. It sounds like you've already got that! Very cool. Now even those living in remote areas of the USA can have broadband internet without the drudgery of cables.

Off topic DHart but the one downside of the satellite link is the disparity between up and down ... down is 500 nom ... tho often better at times, but up is only around 50 .. so could be better but - heck, after my old dial-up I have to be thankful - except for the cost!

Seeing as I'll mortgage my soul for Smiths ... here is the last one's ''extended'' twin - again M27-2 but 8 3/8 tube. :)

Agggh! I gotta get to my dealer and pick up that 3" M-65 I got from the same place DH got his. It's been waiting there over a week and I've been too busy to make the hour trip down to get it.

In the meantime, I'll just have to satisfy myself with my current police trade-in 65 3" and nice 13 3." I'll put some pics up later. The 13 is really nice, but the 65 is very well used. Looks like heck, but shoots good though.

Beautiful guns guys.

DHart, great pistures, I like the more aggressive look of the cocked hammer and loaded cylinder. Don't know if you did this or not, but a way to get that same look with less potential damage to the photographer would be to make sure the chamber under the hammer is empty, you're not goint to see down it anyway, unless the picture is taken straight down the barrel.

Thanks Magnum... I like the agressive look of the firing pin and the glowing Gold Dots in the cylinder! And yes, that is the smart way to be safe!

Argh! A 5" 27!

Another one on my "must have" list to go along with my 3 1/2"!

I just picked up a 13-2 this weekend. Sweetest trigger I've ever felt. The Performance Center would have a hard time toping it. Handles very well with hot .38 Specials and is tolerable with .357's. Shooting it yesterday, I had a very hard time understanding why LEO's ditched such awesome works of art for vile wondernine bottom-feeders.

Oh well, their loss is my gain :D

Cosmoline...congrats on your Model 13 find! The somewhat older Smiths really do tend to have fantastic triggers. And I agree that those who overlook the 13/65 models are really missing out on something special. But that saves them for those of us who appreciate them! Post some pics for us of your new blaster, if you can.

S&W K Frame

Here's a LNIB 66-6 PC I found last week in a local shop. Seems the Performance Center only made this model for one year (2003). The fellow who owned it barely shot it and put it up for consignment. His loss, my gain.

It is the newer model Smith, with the lock and new style hammer. But it has the best trigger of any new Smith I've pulled so far. It's only been to the range once, but is fast becoming a favorite.
