All my stamps were pre-41F on a trust so I’ve never done prints or photos before. Any suggestion on the best/easiest/cheapest way to get photos? I know there’s an iPhone app that supposedly lets you do your own and print them—has anyone used it and gotten approved? How close to a true passport photo do they have to be before ATF rejects them?

This is for a Form 1 SBR.

I used a free app called passport size photo maker. But they are all should work. But it worked fine. I don't think the atf is all that particular. Either way, I have submitted a few successfully.

Also, my local police department wanted $10 a fingerprint card. The sheriff Dept did it for free on the cards the atf sent me for free. https://www.atf.gov/distribution-center-order-form
Go ahead and order a dozen. Form 1's tend to multiply......

there really isn't anything to it. download an app, stand in front of a blank wall, get a head and shoulders selfie shot, submit to ATF.

The kiosk does not take photos, just fingerprints. SS has a cell phone app for uploading your photos.
So for filing an eform it’s OK to use a digital photo? You don’t have to mail a physical printed copy when you send your fingerprints?

I tried rolling my own. it.......did not go well. I think if I had used a good ink pad it would have been fine.
Theres an FBI "how to roll fingerprints" webpage somewhere.........and basically say its nearly impossible to correctly roll your own. That said, ATF just keeps your prints on file, theyn don't send them off to the FBI like in nthe old days. Now they just run a regular old NICS check.

Find a blank, neutral color wall in your house. Take a selfie with your phone. Use that photo.

if you’re worried it doesn’t look authentic enough, make a face like you were just waiting 3 hours at the DMV for your photo to be taken and you really have to find a bathroom.
