Pick your all round pistol!

HK P7M8

A fairly small pistol with great accuracy. The gas piston delayed blowback make recoil manageable. The squeeze cocking design makes it a very safe pistol to carry - no cocked & locked debate, no crummy striker fired type trigger or long DOA, and no DA/SA trigger to deal with.

Marvel of German engineering.

well, there are several i would consider. but I think It would end up being my 4" 629 out of the handguns I have right now. My reasoning is, it is very accurate, 6 rounds doesn't bother me, You can down load it to powder puff loads, or It can be loaded hot and heavy for a handgun if necessary, even though it shouldn't be done much. I am quick with it and you can slick up the trigger/action and be even faster. It is concealable believe it or not, and its light enough to pack around. It can be shot double or single action. And it is weather resistant stainless steel. You can even put a mount and scope on if you wish. It is also very reliable.

my Runners up are these;
5" half under lug 500 S&W. Has most of the advantages above, but while John Ross might manage to conceal his, I haven't found a way yet. And the darn thing is still heavy, even in that configuration.

EAA 10mm match elite. Has 15 round capacity, and all the rest of the perks, but no where close to as powerful as a 44 mag can go, or as light either(I can cast REALLY light bullets in 44). Your load variations are somewhat limited to what will cycle the gun.

1911 460 Rowland Conversion. It has most of the perks, but again, the loads are limited.

Encore pistol; Has everything except capacity.

Face Ogden Utah and bow three times!

SOme sort of 1911 type like a series 70 Mark IV in .45ACP......with a Colt .22 conversion unit......and parts necessary to convert to .38 Super .....and parts to convert to .40 S&W.....and parts to convert to one of the magnumized .45 rounds.....and a couple of the old SASS single shot rifle caliber and magnum pistol caliber uppers......and an infinate number of appropriate magazines

If I had to chose a single revolver though, S&W Model 27 aka "Three Fifty Seven Magnum" with five inch barrel. Much more limited but I think them the ne plus ultra of factory wheel guns even more so than my wife's dream gun a Python.

My only semi auto centerfire is a Glock 20 10mm with a .40 conversion barrel and an Advantage Arms .22 conversion kit. I plan on getting a .357 sig barrel eventually.

Glock 19

reliable, concealable, the best all around do everything pistol!

I think I would go with a HK USP 45 Tactical. That's my practical dream gun at this point. I would go with it because it's a big caliber, it has good capacity, a suppressor can be put on it, and from what I've heard, it's unbelievably reliable. I also love the way it looks.

Ruger Speed Six in stainless with 2 3/4"bbl.

Small enough to conceal for 95% of the time, powerful enough for pretty much any job that a carry gun could be called to do, comfortable to shoot, etc...
A close second is an SP101 3" for the same reasons.

I know, not a semi auto. If I had to pick a semi-auto it would probably be something like a S&W M&P .40, with conversion barrel for 9mm.

My last pick was Gen IV G20. It functions well with 1080fps and 1280fps loads. I'm done with buying handguns.

I can think of many better guns for most things. That being said I think if I could only have one it would be my Browning Buckmark. I would hate to rely on it for SD but it would do in a pinch. I could hunt small game easily and larger game if I had to.

The ammo is light and doesn't take up much space if I was moving. During normal times it is easy to get ammo and doesn't cost much. That means I could practice more with it to make sure I could place a shot where I wanted to. My wife can also shoot it with ease.

All that being said I'm sure glad I don't have just one.

I'd be hard pressed to pick something better at everything than a .357 mag with a 4" (I personally like the looks of the old 3-5-7, but I'd probably get a SP101). I can think of many guns I'd rather have for one or two tasks, but nothing better at all of them. I think to be best all around it should be concealable but still leave the option open for hunting in most states where possible.

My HK USP 40; I have a good supply of ammo for it so I get the most range time with it.

Beretta PX4 Storm in 9mm. Capacity, ease of maintenance, reliability, accuracy, mild recoil with rotating barrel. One of my favorite pistols. Others I would consider are my Beretta M9A1, Sig P226 Blackwater, Glock 19.

Since this is posted in the auto loader section, I'm going to a 1911 tactical commander in 10mm. While there is an overlap between JHP performance in service calibers, hardcast 200 gr WFNs validates the 10mm for trail carry in addition to town personal defense. :)

One gun period? GP100 with a 4 inch barrel. .357 is just a great all around cartridge.

If I have to pick an auto, probably a 1911. I am not fanatical about them, but I do like them, and the .45 is a good round.

Desert Eagle in .50AE, with 10 inch barrel.

You can kill anything from the size of a field mouse up to and including zombies and deer, elk, moose and T Rex. The sound of racking the slide alone will cause most burglars to go into cardiac arrest and if that doesn't work, then brandishing the thing should kill the burglar due to shock. If the gun jams, the extra barrel length will help greatly when using the gun as a club in a pinch. On the water it can be used as a very good boat anchor as well as being able to use the recoil as propulsion should your motor give out and oars float away.

In the end, if there are no more threats and no more ammo available, the thing can be melted down and forged into a complete set of dinnerware for 5, including extra forks.

By far the best one I've heard all month. (LOLOLOLOL)

Les Baer Premier II. I own one of the very first that Les built. It is so early that he had not yet started to make his own frames. it is built on a Caspian frame. 1.5" accuracy guarantee and thousands of rounds downrange. Still just as accurate. Thanks Les

Well, since you said one handgun....it would be a S&W 629.
.44 Mag. rounds for woods work, and .44 Special rounds for social work. With a 4 or 5 inch barrel it shouldn't be to hard to hide in a good pancake.

HK P7, HK P2000, HK P30 or the one I already have, the Walther P99 AS last generation.
