I got this one on a trade after looking for quite awhile for a Clackamas this clean. Anyone who follows these early Kimbers knows they are getting harder and harder to find. There are only 7000 of them with the Clackamas roll mark but you don't see them for sale very often. The deal was especially sweat because it is much nicer than the pics I was sent before it was a done deal.

Also I'd never handled one of the late 90's Kimbers before and this thing just reeks of quality. If Kimber would have kept up this level of fit and finish, and been able to hold the price, they would have no competition today to speak of. The only thing I'm sad about is it has an idiot mark that I'm trying to figure out what I should do about. If any of you have some ideas I would like to hear them.

Wow, that's one very nice Kimber you have there. Congratulations on a fine aquisition.

What idiot mark? All I see is a work of art. That thing is gorgeous.

It's there but the pic I posted doesn't show it all that well. It's not real bad but still bugs the hell out of me so I'm going to have it fixed. Thanks for compliments, I'll post some more pics after I shoot it and strip it. I was looking at the barrel last night and it doesn't look like this baby has seen many rounds at all.

You've GOT TO get that tape off of the front strap.

Be careful about who you go to about the idiot mark. It'll probably need to be refinsihed to blend it well. Don't listen to someone who tells yyou that cold blue (whichever magic formula) will fix it. It probably won't match and even if it does it'll fade and is likely to ruin the blue around the scratch.

I'd live with it. The gun is getting old and showing a little history is all.

Beautiful, clean lines, nice and simple. I'm not that familiar with Kimbers, but i like the look of this one better than the others currently in production.

Don't see any idiot mark... i agree that it adds to the character of the gun. as you use it, it will wear. of my 3 rifles, the one that beaten up looks the best to me. makes me happy that the gun had/has a good life. :D

:) Just kidding. It will be coming off, I'm not sure if it's going to get messy and I want to shoot it at least once with it on.
