It's a Star. Seems as if Star and Colt were working up a deal to market these as Colts too, but something happened and the deal fell through.

I'll have to dig out my Colt books to see if thats a fact, but Colt did market a .25 auto for a while that I think may have been a Star.

Rex, yeah that Llamas looks nice too. :)

I will still try to pick up another 1911 style pistol in 9mm, though, like the SA EMP, but this one will serve me well until then, and after that, would make a great size for an ankle holster!

On page 232 of R.L. Wilson's book, Colt-An American Legend, there is a photo of a Colt Pony. It is identical to the Star .380, only with Colt markings on the slide and the Colt medallion on the grips. Wilson wrote that they were basically prototypes; built under subcontract, but never accepted or sold by Colt. The other Spanish made autos that Colt did sell were made by Astra and were marketed as the Junior Colt and the Colt Automatic .25. Importation of these models was ended by the GCA 1968, though Colt did bring back the Colt .25 model for a brief time in 1970.

Is there a way I can find out, by my serial number, when mine was made?

I had one of these years ago. I had extraction problems with it. A little filing fixed that but since spare parts were hard to find I sold it.

BTW the CPA in the serial number stands for Colt Patent Arms not Colt Pony Auto. ;)

Thanks for that bit of information.

I may keep mine for a while, sell it later. One never knows.

Still have my eye out for a Springfield EMP.

Spanish guns usualy have a date code somewhere on the frame, may be under grips usually a letter or a number and a letter, ie. D2 or N

I haven't run across a date code on my Model D. It's not in the usual places, but I haven't thoroughly scrutinized it.

Maybe I should remove my grips to see what's under them. I'd like to know when mine was made. Serial number of CPA006xxx

But anyway, tonight, I will take it to the range to see how it does with a couple of magazines loaded with Golden Sabers.

I understand they are in short supply.
I have two spares, but the springs are incorrect.
I intend to try some Keltec springs.

You can try Tom Forrest.

Tom Forrest, Inc., PO Box 326, Lakeside, CA 92040. Tel: 888-486-6247; Fax: 888-486-2547. Obsolete and current magazines, firing pins. April 2005 - web site not complete. Phone: 888-486-6247 - Fax: 888-486-2547

Just make sure they don't send you a Triple K magazine. I find them pretty junky. The only other source I can think of Gun Parts in West Hurley NY...not cheap on anything.
