Picked up my Model 10 today

Left work early to hit the LGS and pick up my Model 10. Put money down on it last weekend while shopping for a J-frame. Saw it and fell in love. Its a 10-5, in extraordinary shape. Beautiful bluing, no rust, tight action. Gonna try to get a date on it from the Smith sticky thread and I cant wait to shoot it tomorrow

Nice find! For so many years that was S&W's bread and butter gun. Let us know how it does at the range and how your hunt for a J frame goes.

I own a lot of revolvers. My favorite shooter is my Model 10.

With the load it likes, (158 gr cast lead with 3.8gr Red Dot, from the Alliant manual +P load) it shoots exactly to point of aim at 30'.

My biggest problem is when I take it to the local action shoots, people keep trying to buy it and they don't let up with the pestering. I tell them $600.00 but I may have to raise the price because I never plan on selling it.

I can always make more money, but I doubt I could replace MY Model 10.

The first revolver I ever shot was a 4" Model 10. It had me converted from seeing revolvers as lumpy looking odd shaped bits of metal over to being a total convert half way through the second cylinder of shots.

I'm sure you and your own great looking model 10 will be BFF's in no time at all.

I have an early Post WWII M&P and it's a sweat shooting revolver! I'm sure you will love shooting that M10 and I can totally understand why you fell in love with it.

BTW, did you find that J frame you were looking for? I found a nice Chief's special a few years back to go with my M&P. They are a match made in heaven even though the Chief's Special is much younger. M&P=1948, M36=1975)

The j frame is next. Lookin for a newish 642. Or anything with a hammer shroud. Basically honna use it as a BUG or for pocket carry once and a while.

(P.S. Some of you guys are real photographers. Mine often turn out unfocused

I carried an S&W M10 for years as a cop and owned a personal M10 as well. I later traded banghead it off and have regretted it since. I do like the skinny barrel version.

I did buy a heavy barrel M10 40 years ago and still have it. It will never be for sale.

I like this one, an old M&P from 1955 that I bought it twice. I sold it, then found it again a few months later on the shelf at the LGS and bought it again. Sort of like a lost dog finding it's way back home. Yea, I lost some money on the deal, but not much more than a pawn fee would have been. I'm keeping it this time.



I guess there isn't much need to say it's a sweet shooter.

I also have a 1948 mp. My favorite handgun for reloading shooting. I shoot it better than any other pistol I own. 150 OTD about 4 yrs ago.
