Finally found some 9mm ammo at a reasonable price, it's Herter's which I've never shot before but for $12/box I couldn't pass it up, grabbed 1,000 rounds.

Ah nice. Herters 380 is flat point and ran great in my ppk!

Also happened on some 38s there. Like the flat point fmj for range ammo. Good find!

Unless you're really cashed our hope ya left a box or two for the newbs!

I’ve been seeing way to much .60 per round 9mm range ammo lately. Somehow it sells but I won’t contribute to that craziness. I’m glad there’s something out there at a fair price even if it’s hard to find.

Interesting they didn't have a two or four box limit.
If you time it right, you still can get good prices at the big boxes.

I walked into an FFL today to fill out the paperwork for a rifle I ordered. I had to have an appointment to even walk in the place. They told me that instead of 15 minutes it is taking about 2 days for the background check to go through. While I waited for them to deal with the paperwork, I had a look at what little was on the shelves. Picked out a very rare brick of Large Rifle primers and saw several boxes of Armscor 380 on the shelf for $17.99. The place looked like a horde of zombies had been through it, but they still had bits and pieces left at old prices. Don't have or know anyone who has a 380, so left it on the shelf.

I was able to buy 100 rounds of 9 mm and a 100 rounds of 5.56 mm today at local Scheels. Looks like they had a pretty good supply. Gun dept manager said he thought it would be all gone in two days.

I find 9mm fairly often at my local Big 5 Sporting and Bi-Mart. Prices are better then at Cabelas, and other places where its unobtainable.

Colorado does checks through the state bureau of investigation, so when the state gets nuts with gun sales like now, things back up.

FL does the same and we have a lot more population; sounds like the folks are either understaffed or being deliberate

Could be. We are in a hot zone for the virus, so would not be surprised if that impacted things. Either that, or people are absolutely nuts to get their hands on a firearm.

I was looking at that, it's listing as "available" in a nearby store (which is still about 30 mi away, so I wasn't that eager to just go and look).

I bought some online from them in May or June. Looks fine, looks like regular ol' brass 9mm fmj. "Herter's" may once have made ammo, but now it's just the house brand for Cabela's/Bass Pro. They cut deals with manufacturers and get a big load of them in.
In the past, it used to be Sellier & Bellot, you could tell this by the small size of the box (S&B has the smallest boxes) and the "made in Czech Republic" label. It is a different box now, and says "made in USA". Best guess is it's Winchester with a different headstamp.

Academy's "Monarch" line is the same sort of deal, the brass is actually PPU made in Serbia.

Went back this morning and they had tons of 9mm with a 5 box limit, they had 500 round boxes of Herter's so I picked up another 2,500 rounds.

Yep.....ammo is starting to come back. Herter's is good ammo for the money and their brass is good stuff for reloading(at the least FME). Back when I was a kid, it was a discount mail order sporting goods company with a great reputation. Back when the Cabela's catalog was just a small pamphlet you sent for from the ads in the back of F&S, the annual Herter's catalog would rival the Sear's Christmas catalog. Not only did Herter's precede Cabela's in mail order, but they also preceded them as the first large sporting goods box store. Like many other old fashioned big stores(like Montgomery Ward), they went bankrupt in the early 80s after Cabela's bought out their foam decoy factory. Cabela's still uses the Herter's name for some of their proprietary ammo. I still have a "Herter's Sporter" replacement stock on my M1917 that came roughly shaped to me by mail back in 1970.

On both days you must have arrived within one/two hours of the opening time.

No signs of “nuts to get their hands on a firearm”, at least no anxiety for handguns....in TN.

For two months I’ve watched pages of Sigs, CZs, S&Ws, Makarovs on Armslist.
Many of the same handguns are Still there after multiple weeks, and prices aren’t bad.

My small LGS owner tells me it is still difficult to replace stock, but he does have some frangible, including "duty" frangible, on shelves in 223 and 9mm. The duty stuff will punch through tissue but not penetrate drywall, per his explanation.

The current Herters 9mm that says made in the USA on the box is made by Winchester. It used to be made in Eastern Europe.

That is 24c/rnd. Pretty good price for brass cased ammo in today's market. Now I feel guilty. :( I checked 9mm price last weekend and saw online price is going up to 50c/rnd for 115gr FMJ. I have plenty, figured I can unload some to help folks who need ammo, listed 1 brick of Remingtom UMC 115 gr FMJ at 36c/rnd at Armslist, sold in 2 hrs.

I used to get ammo when it went on sale with free shipping from Cabela's since Bass Pro wouldn't send to NJ. Now Cabela's won't send to NJ either, even though there is no legal restriction to do so. I realize it is their business to do as they please, but I will not buy anything from them again. I sent a politely worded email expressing my disappointment and received a form email back stating they would pass my comments along, but don't think I'll hold my breath. My son was able to purchase a handgun at a great gun shop here in NJ and it took four days for NICS to clear, usually took about 15-30 minutes prior to all the craziness.
