Very Nice.

Damm i hate i missed it , was planning on going untill i got roped into a weekend job by my bride and one of our friends who owns a traffic control company ( road construction sites ) I just did not feel i could leave either of the ladys short handed and attend .

Oh my - I sure missed quite something ........ sure as heck wanted to be there but - just too darned far. Some great pics and glad it was such a success. Weather looked perfect.

Larry - you at table with Justin - that's Art sitting opposite you is it not? Oops OK - just checked your name list. :)

Anybody who coulda gone and didn't--GOOFED!

It was a phantasmagorical great time! Whittington is neat, Raton is neat, and the folks who showed up were truly fine!

We learned a lot about the Whittington system and numerous helpful details which oughta make next year even better.

Our insurance is good through next Memorial Day, approximately, so somebody who thinks they could put a Fall deal together, there, oughta give it a go. The Center had some 177,000 people come through, last year, but the majority were in June/July/August.

Anybody want to put together a fall deal? Like Art said, the insurance is paid, so it would be cheaper for everybody.

It would just about have to be early September, to avoid the crowds and the weather. And the weather can be a bit dicey even in September.

I've got a 40th high school reunion I'm helping with on October 12th How come I always get roped into this stuff? and the Colorado Get Together probably will be end of August/first of September.

Hmmm. Maybe the Colorado Get Together could be held at Whittington instead of my house. Couple more hours drive for the guys up north, but I guarantee it would be worth it...

Oh, and Oleg, if you put something together for Tennessee, the insurance will cover it with no extra charge, as long as we notify them of the location. Sandy and I would travel to Tennessee.

i'll help put something together in TN! you're saying the insurance would cover it?

yeah, marshall, those wmvs are great! too bad we didn't get a video of justin doing the drill with the henry 22lr lever :)

I'll help put something together in TN!
Cool! As long as its not the weekend of October 12th, we'll be there!

You've got the weather advantage. You could put something together for Thanksgiving, and it would work out.
You're saying the insurance would cover it?
Yep. Art just has to notify the insurance company about the date and range location.

cool. would people generally prefer a class? or just a few days of goofing off on the range like before?

actually, maybe it would be better to start a new thread for this. PM me if you have input before i start the new thread

Hi guys!

I have an internet connection, and THR is up again, all at the same time!

Thanks to everyone for making this a great weekend.

Good food, nice people, and we even got to do some shooting. :)

Hey there M67.

I'm glad that you had a good time. I did too.

It was good to see you.

Tennessee? There is a place too? I've never been to Tennessee. I'm up for it.

A Thanksgiving outing would be really cool.

As far as format for future events: We found that informal sessions worked well. Whittington has a sight-in range that's open to all, and it works well if you have your own pistol-target frames. They have frames and supports at 75, 100 and 200 yards, plus steel farther out. We weren't so crowded that others could not shoot from the benchrests.

A fair number of folks shot some skeet and sporting clays.

When you have a fair number of folks who are new to each other, there's a lot of casual chit-chat in getting acquainted. That was as important as the shooting, pretty much, so any formal class should be a few-hours session at most. Seems to me, anyway.

FWIW, Art

yeah, i haven't forgotten about that. i've got 3 places picked out. i'm going to go scope the last one out tomorrow, then i'll post some details and start talking about a date

On one of the photos you can see a white dot.

It's a metal buffalo and it is at 1153 Yards!
