~Pictures of your Ammo Stockpile~

This is certainly meant with all due respect, but when I see the small
amounts of ammo some of the Higroaders say they have stockpiled,
I get the fidgets! Personally, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night
with only a couple hundred rounds on hand. Yikes.

I don't have a single peice of ammunition in my house at the moment, I never really stockpiled on ammo of any kind, I shot all of it up on my last ammo trip.......I guess some of you will have to donate me some......:(

:D

I have 20 rounds of .22lr Stingers.
I have 30 rounds 12 gauge 3" #4 Buck.
Always at least a half tank of gas, in my pickup truck.
I figure I can beat feet and be to where I need to be, quickly.

No offense guys, but this kind of thread, especially with all of the photos, is fodder for the antis. They see a propagandizing opportunity if someone has 300 rounds.

Or they realize that it's totally normal to have thousands of rounds of ammo in your home at any given time.

something to think about,,

I know some live in apts, or other smaller houses without outside storage options, but you should seriously consider moving ammo storage outside your primary residence.
If your home does happen to catch fire & your stash starts cooking off you can bet the fireman will back off & you'll probably end up loosing 20-50X's your house value in what the ammo's worth.
And don't be shocked when the insurance fails to pay due to your storing your stash in the home.
The guy at Ammo To Go used to store all his stuff in a smallish, tin 2 car garage without insulation; he said a slow temp. increase or decrease was ok & would not hurt storage, but I'm sure his inventory turned over quick enough. (he is about 40 miles outside nw Houston)
I have most of my stuff in GI metal ammo boxes in the garage, but will be moving it outside soon (I have enough) JM2cents

This is not something to be bragged about on a forum. The anti's just love to hear things like this.

Really - I am not trying to be an ass - but are you serious. I can understand someone saying that you should opt out of posting online for OPSEC resons, etc etc.

This is a thread about pictures of ammo!

You saw a pic of a guys reloading room set up to load just as much ammo as seen here, with plenty sitting around - yet you didn't think that was something to not "brag about"?

or what about this....

ALWAYS on or near me. ALWAYS

Mine is on my belt at all times both in the house and away from home. I wear it like a watch - it's always on me. I don't shower or sleep with it attached to me but it's pretty damned close to me at those times, also.

In the 4 years of carrying, I could count on one or two hands the number of HOURS that my gun hasn't been within 5 feet of me. The County Court house and the school (rare occational mtg.)

Who packs heat after they've had a few?

I pegged my vote to the "Yes, after a few" but I need to qualify the "few".
If I go into a bar with the intent of having several drinks, I leave the gat in the car but if I'm at a friend's or a picnic and only have one or two ("a few") during the course of a day or evening then the pistola stays where it is.

What do you think the Anti's think of comments like that?

I guess like I said earlier in this thread - I sit here and wonder why anyone of us cares what the antis think? Their gonna think what they think regardless of how much ammo you have on a shelf to how many drinks you think is okay to have a still pack a gun :)eek:) Again I say - if your not impressed with the threads content and have nothing pertinent to add then scan and move on....

I don't understand why some people get all worked up over someone having a few thousand rounds of ammo on hand. To me it is just having extra for extended range trips. I also purchase ammo when I find a really good deal on it since it will all get used sooner or later, that is not evil just good sense. Blame the boyscout in me, I just like to be prepared.

Golfers keep tend to keep several dozen golf balls on hand and nobody gets excited! And look at all of those evil clubs they keep without being secured. :D

My little stash to scare the anti's...

If my photo of reloaded .45 and .223, or anyone else's photo in this thread caused an anti to wee their undies, this thread is a WIN.

If you feel appeasing the antis is the path to gun rights... well... I'm not sure what to tell you. Perhaps you should consult Brady and ask them what a suitable quantity of ammunition is for the home. When you have their response, photograph your stash (of one .38spl round, carried in your shirt pocket) and contribute constructively to the thread.

I lost all my ammo in the same boating accident, where all my guns went down with teh ship.

It was a very tragic moment...

Amen . . .and then ask them how many rifles and pistols you should be allowed to own and of what configuration.

Anti's do not need an excuse to ban, just the fact you have any amount of bullets or the need of them is enough.

Storing ammo in GI ammo cans is a good way to prevent moisture and if you do have a fire the ammo usually won't penatrate the can. After we recovered an M1114 that had been hit by an IED and caught fire, the trunk area still had two ammo boxes (one smaller 7.62 linked and one larger 5.56) that were dented all over from the inside from cook offs, but none penetrated. I don't know about .50cal ammo cooking off though.

I learned the hard way about moving a 20mm can with small arms ammo inside. Wrenched my back bad, now I use .50cal cans instead, except for shotgun ammo.

I don't have much of a stockpile...

ammo.gif

Totals:

500 or so rounds of .22LR (that pack has been opened)
~80 or so rounds of #7 1/2 12 gauge (again, the pack was opened)
24 rounds of the 12 gauge T shot (fired one while busting clays; haven't fired any more).
10 rounds 00 buck
~45 or so rounds of .30-06 (one of those boxes is mostly empty)

I don't have a whole lot of money to stockpile ammo at this point, or get into reloading. I am saving all of my brass and hulls, though, for the stuff that's reloadable, so that eventually when I get around to it I'll have at least some components.

If SHTF, I'm heading to one of your places :neener:
