Pietta '51 in .44 Questions

Hello all,

I understand that this model is a creation of imagination and not historically correct. I had a discussion on another board and learned that this model is actually a '60 frame and cylinder with a '51 "style" barrel in .44. This sounded reasonable enough, but I would like a second opinion. Can I take a conversion cylinder in 45LC (five chamber) for the Colt 1860 and use it in a steel framed historically incorrect 1851 Colt? I am one of those pain in the a$$ people that know what they like and want what they want, even if that means creating a franken pistol to have it . I love the looks of the full length '51, as opposed to the Marshall version, and want it in .44 with a conversion in .45LC . What do you think?

45 conversion

Yes, the 1860 Army conversion cylinder will fit the 44 caliber '51 Navy. The frame is the same as the 1860 Army with its rebated cylinder, only the barrel forcing cone was shortened to fit the longer 1860 cylinder, and the bore changed to 44/45.

Also..................
The .36 caliber 1861 uses the same frame as the .36 '51 Navy.
So does the .36 police.
I have several different .36 barrels that all fit this frame.
Mix 'n Match--all depends who I want to be that day!

Looks like Pietta is trying to be efficient with their cap gun models.
