Does anybody know where I can buy a pin shoot table? Quality is the most important consideration, so I am not looking for plywood on top of saw horses. I am trrying to write a proposal for a shooting club and need to know about pricing.

Thanks,

P95Cthanks for the quick replies
95carry - Ive used the same set up myself and I know it works well, but this club will reject the idea before I have a chance to explain. There main concern is saftey of the shooters and the duct work in the building.
649 - I am going to try the website

Safety - well always an essential aspect but I can't see any risk from the 4x4's in that respect. If hit, it is rare to have any rickochet probs. At back we have usual angled back plate and trap etc.

Ductwork is again something many folks have to protect indoors - but usually it seems that is more to do with having a few ceiling baffles here and there.

I'll be interested to know what ''they'' do find acceptable and why. Cost is always another ingredient too - meaning, if cash is rich in supply then all sorts of fancy deals can be made but usually economy is a factor.

it's an old bullseye club so pin shooting will be tough to get approved. I gave them rough estimates for a table of about $1-2000. They said if i can get it by the board, they may spring for the table. The whole proposal will probably get shot down, but it's worth a try.

It's odd they wouldn't want the plywood. A bullet hitting wood is likely not to richochet, especailly at the power factors for pin shooting. Heck, you'd get more richochets from the pins themselves.

Second Chance used wooden tables with long cylindrical kevlar buffers at the front of the table sticking up a little bit to keep the tables from getting chewed up. Of course this also made clearing fallen pins a little more difficult. Will the tables be permanent or portable? Unless they're to be permanent, I don't see how you can beat saw horses and plywood.

We do use saw horses but - place pins on 4x4's across said horses. They last quite well and yet are not too bad to replace when too shot up.
Well now I don't see how you could rightly call that pin shooting! With that set up all you've got to do is knock the pin over. Pin shooting is all about knocking the pin off the table. Those are very different things.

"...Second Chance used wooden tables..." Not any time I was there. Padded concrete front legs, a steel top with angle iron on the top front and a 2 x 6 underneath. Just looked at my old pictures. The 'PEE' event did use a wooden table though. Geezuz, that shoot was fun. Rifles and pistols and machineguns. Oh my.
$1-$2 grand is far too much for one or two tables though. Most clubs have a member make their pin tables out of wood and angle iron. However, I really don't think regular pin shooting indoors is a good idea though. Even cast bullets will bounce who knows where if they hit the side of a pin. I got hit in the leg by a spent .45 while standing well back of the shooting line at Second Chance. Nothing serious. The pins get full of lead and can cause bullets and parts thereof to come back the seven yards. Indoor pin shooting isn't safe.
In any case, the fastest way to get "old bullseye shooters" on your side is to take them to a pin shoot. Show 'em how much fun it is and how safe. But not inside with full sized pins.

Goodness, You mean to tell me that there's not a welder or two as members of your club? Pin tables are easy to construct. 1/4" plate set on legs. The forward edge should have some angle iron welded in place to keep any direct possibility of ricochet's back to the shooters line. Even if you go with wood, make sure there's a minimum power factor atained to shoot. There's much less possibility of a ricochet if the bullet goes into the wood. (And that's what's needed in the pins too to transfer the knock down power.) Gee, warm loads for safety. Now there's a concept!

There aren't any good close up photos of our pin tables in this link, http://www.memes.com/~sealion/newbay.html But you'll also notice that they're covered so stray's can't fly to the moon.

Hope this gives you some ideas.

(What state are you in? I could weld some of these up if you're in Washington.)
