So what do you guys think? I made it for my girlfriend. 20ga Mossberg youth model. We like to go bust clays with my 12ga and her 20ga. This thing took a week to paint.

I hate it. For some reason, I'm thinking that one or your goals was to paint a pattern that would be visually repulsive to guys like me. You succeeded. I wouldn't know you were going for a camo pattern if you didn't tell me. As long as your girlfriend likes it, that's all that matters.

Pink is no more visible to game animals than blaze orange so that color scheme will work quite well in the game fields and keep her visible to other hunters also.
Nice job.

Pretty cool of you to do that for your girlfriend. It reminds me of the pink AR15 that's been at a local gunstore for months.

The factory Remington 870 Express Junior version is available with a pink laminated stock and forearm. The stock is laser engraved "Shoot like a girl- IF YOU CAN!" See http://gizmodo.com/assets/resources/2007/10/pink_remnigton_shotgun.jpg .

Personally, I threw up in my mouth a little bit. However, if that gets her shooting and adds another vote to our camp, I can live with it. Really though, you went above and beyond to keep her interested in shooting. Good show!:)

Well thanks for all the comments. I like the fact it makes some guys hurl :barf:. My thoughts are that some women are intimidated by the looks of some guns and making them visually appealing makes them less "scary." I saw the 870 and I really liked it, but I bought my shotguns as a pair and both of them were Mossys. The 870 was also more expensive.

I used the new digital camo patterns as an inspiration. It came out a little too pink on the last layer (the dark pink) but I can live with it. I have a backup stock/forearm combo that Mossberg gave me at half off that's not pink.

She was a total anti who freaked out when she saw my 10/22 when we first started dating. Her dad not only loves Paul Helmke but he also looks strikingly similar to him. Now she can handle the guns safely and we're working on getting her to bust clays out of the air. She also loves my AR and my Garand.

I'd say that $20 of paint, tape, and patience took an anti to a gun nut.

I think I just had a My Little Pony induced nausea. But nice job though, it is a well done paint job, you can tell you took alot of time to keep it clean and level and it's definitly not a rush job. Nice job with converting your girl, maybe get some dura-coat to do the receiver and barrel? But I think you maybe digging yourself a hole, now she's gonna want more and more! There goes your personal gun budget.... you lucky bastard. :)

I like it.

Post pics of her shooting it, and I may like it even more.

I recently heard someone make a rather valid point on pink guns; it makes them seem like toys, which is bad. Guns shouldn't be treated as toys.

Although you did do a good job on it, yes. I'm sure your girlfriend will appreciate it.

I don't remember any of my toy guns being pink, seems like that would be a problem if you put an orange flash suppressor on it.

ya gotta do what ya gotta do to keep the lady happy. I would paint all my guns pink if it kept my wife from buying new shoes twice a week...:uhoh:

Pink is no more visible to game animals than blaze orange so that color scheme will work quite well in the game fields and keep her visible to other hunters also.
Nice job.

However, birds see in color. May not be so great for dove hunting.

OP, good job.

Most of the dove hunters I know walk around looking for doves. I really doubt a little color on the stock will make much difference over all the noise of walking through the brush or having the dog flush the birds.

Well we took the pink gun out to the range today and she managed to bust some clays out the air for the first time. She loves the gun and now that she can bust them out of the air we'll be going back soon. She probably won't hunt, so don't worry about that.

I definitely need to get some duracoat. Not pink, but black. I want to be able to reverse the gun back to stock. The forearm rubs on the underside of the receiver and has rubbed some of the bluing off. I also need to do the same to my 12ga.

"My little pony" shotgun :neener: Hahaha, I think its a name that will stick!

The clays don't see in color either, so they weren't scared away, right? :D

Personally, I like it. I don't know why people feel guns should be so limited in colors and patterns. Too many people have the Ford "Any color as long as it is black" mentality when it comes to guns, but the color scheme is expanded to black, brown, stainless, and camoflage to their liking only. Pink isn't my color, but I like the uniqueness aspect.

Reminds me of the picture I saw once of a black/pink Harley. (I think it was a 55 or so.)

I like it. You did a good job. I wouldn't want it, but I don't see a thing wrong with it if SHE likes it.

I've got one of those 20 ga Mossbergs myself in a more, shall we say, "conventional color." Seems to be a decent gun. I'm debating taking it squirrel hunting this morning but will probably grab a 22.
