I've been doing some research on these rounds, and I am thoroughly impressed! I downloaded a .pdf of various HST rounds being tested against other top-of-the-line bullets. However, when I tried looking online for a place that sells them, I have not had any luck. I was lucking for some .45 ACP 230 grain loads, but right now I can't find anything.

Anyone know where I can find these rounds?

HST

I have gotten mine from Streichers.com. I think the .45 is $18 for 50. The expansion on these bullets is very impressive, as well as good penetration. It is kind of hit and miss with Streichers, as far as when they have them in stock. I have the 230gr+p, they have a little more recoil than standard pressure, but are also quite accurate.

I know that MAH Supplies has the Federal Tactical Bonded. It is the premium version while the HST is the "budget" version. I've been using Tactical for awhile now and I'm extremely impressed, I've almost completely moved away from Winchester Ranger.

alright, thanks guys. When I go on my next ammo-buying spree, I'll keep these places bookmarked.

Do they really just sell this to LE ? Or do they just need a copy of your DL/CPL

I looked at the MAH web sight and they have a big speal about how federal and Winchester only want to sell ranger and hst to LE . It seems everyone is always out of it

I have bought the HST twice from Streichers, the last time was two weeks ago.
They will sell you all you want but it does not stay in stock long. If they have it, you have to jump on it right away.

Good luck!

It's no wonder it gets bought up everytime they are in stock. That stuff is great.

The main problem is Federal and Winchester only do small production runs of their LE ammo since it is meant for a small market. Much of the ammo ends up in the non LE market causing a shortage under normal circumstances.

Right now the demand world wide for ammo has them snowed under. CCI seems to be the smartest since they started adding machines to help with production. Federal hired more people but without the machines that does not help much. Olin Corp is busy making money(new American Dollar coin) so the brass mill is splint between that, brass sheets for China, and the Winchester brass.

Putting more machines on takes many months to get online so we are way behind the eight ball.

I called my #2 supplier of Ranger ammo today. They had promised me that my August order of RA9TA and RA45TP would ship this month. Now they say they hope to have it to me in early 2008.:what:

Why my #2 supplier? Because my #1 has the RA45TP in stock but they want as much for it as I currently sale it for. I'm just not prepared to keep raising prices on ammo that already costs too damn much.

Deer Hunter I have more HST 45 on order but I have no idea when it will arrive. I have some 40 and 9mm that will be here this week.

TDSUS,

Bought 200 rounds of P45HST2 from you guys. Your website was easy to use, the rounds shipped quickly, and arrived quickly in excellent condition. Thank you.

I'm looking for the .38 Special 125 Grain... P38HST1. Has anyone out there seen this yet? Anyone out there selling it ... to non-leo? I've seen it at Kiesler's but nowhere else.

In one box of 50, I had about 15 serious failures to feed in an XD9 Subcompact The nose of the cartridge dove under the feed ramp causing a serious malfunction that required type 3 malfunction corrective action. In the 50 it seemed to be exacerbated by slow fire or any type of limp wristing, although my sample was too small to exactly identify the problem.

This XD has thousands of round through with everything from 100 grain to 147 grain with no failures.

Just a heads up. If it works in your gun, it seems to be good stuff. I have another box of 50, and I am going to see if it works in my BHP.

Streicher's HQ is a just few miles from me, so I hit their retail store very often. My 92FS is always stocked with HST. Streichers tends to refresh their stock of it as quickly as they can when they run out; it's one type they don't like being out of.

And no, you don't need to be a LEO to purchase it.
