I just got my new membership packet from the Second Amendment Foundation today. I was incredibly surprised to see that the welcome letter is ACTUALLY SIGNED by Alan Gottlieb. Just thought that was a nice little touch.

I suppose the SAF could be paying somebody minimum wage to forge Alan Gottlieb's signature all day, but I find that unlikely.

Its not uncommon, especially in the case of customer service sections of large organizations, for some random person to sign a form letter using the name of whatever important person the letter was supposedly from to give the person receiving the letter the feeling that the company cares about them more than they actually do. If you have a lot of paper correspondence with such an organization, check the handwriting of the signatures on them. They're often the same name in completely different handwriting.

I was commenting that it was unlikely that the SAF engaged in such a practice.

I think you're misunderstanding me. The comment was intended in jest. I'm incredibly pleased that the founder of the organization takes the time to sign the new member form letters by hand. Its a nice gesture, and I appreciate it.
