My AR currently has a 16" barrel, carbine length gas system, carbine receiver extention and carbine buffer. It's straight up carbine.
I want to build a bull-barrelled, scoped upper and use it interchangably on my lower. I know my collapsible stock isn't ideal for a scoped gun, but I can live with that. And, I have an VLTOR Modstock, good tight fit, no wiggle. It will do until I decide to get a dedicated lower with a fixed rifle stock.
I know there is lower pressure in a standard length gas system. Will a 20" barrel and standard length gas system still cycle a carbine buffer? Do I need to get a lighter buffer to use with the longer upper?
Somebody help!
