I really need some help guys. Here in Maryland the gun prices are very high. I really want to get a SA mil spec 1911, but the best price I have been quoted is $499.99 plus tax and BG check! I was also looking at a SA XD40 for $525.00 plus tax. I looked at used guns also but nice used guns in Maryland are hard to come by and when you do find one the price is so high you might as well go new. I won't even tell you guys the prices on Glocks, H&Ks, Sigs, etc. But if you dont have $700+ don't even think about them. I really want that SA 1911, but for $500? What do you guys think. And don't say move.

Sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet and do what you gotta do. If you don't have other options, your stuck. I think the SA guns are good enough weapons that they are somewhat underpriced in some areas anyway. Everything is relative...if they are lower priced than the comparable models available, then they are a good deal. Go for it and don't look back.
 
SA lists them at $620 and up. And a Colt will be lots more than that. $500 isn't that high. Mind you, if you don't have the 500 it may as well be 5,000. There may be one on the 'For Sale' page on this site. Then you get to add shipping etc.
 
I really need a few new guns too

the guns I want cost at least 800 to a couple thousand,plus I need the bells and whisltes

Gunbroker.com has mil-spec stainless 1911's for $499 and the parkerized is $399. So add say $25 for shipping and whatever your FFL transfer fee is and thats what you should expect to pay by purchasing online.

No tax is the benefit of online purchases, but you do have to pay shipping and FFL transfer fees.

FFL transfers can be as low as $15 or as high as $50 or even more.

Go to www.gunbroker.com and then "for buyers", find FFL and put in your zip code for a list of FFL's in your area and see whats available.

For the rest of you, lets try to help a guy out instead of posting answers that lead to nothing.:rolleyes:
 
Here in San Antonio I can't find a Mil spec for under $549 How much are they supposed to cost?

I would go for the 1911.
 
Lenny gave you some good advice. Gunbroker is a wealth of deals. You do have to shop around so that you do not get hosed on the shipping. I saw one guy that was charge $50!!!

I buy all of my guns from CDNN they only charge $9.99 for shipping and my FFL charges me $20 to transfer it to me. Plus they have great prices.
 
I purchased a new SA milspec from a gunshop on Gunbroker this past December. It cost $369+$20shipping+$40 transfer fees. I believe it to be the absolute best value in a 1911 today!
 
Declaration Day.....are you sure it's a Mil-Spec and not a WW-II Spec? That price you quoted is right in the range for a WW-II but the Mils are generally right in the mid to upper 4s.
 
The platform itself is probably not a bad place to start although it won't already have the lowered and flared ejection port, decent sites or a beveled mag well.
My biggest concern would be the price....that's WAY too high for a factory stock WW-II spec. I'd shop around a bit more or, if possible in the PRMD, order one off the internet.
 
The little gunshop in Grand Prairie has them for $380 last I checked. Find out how much it costs to do transfers.

Someone from MD jump in here. Is there some special hoops you have to jump through to buy a pistol?
 
When you're in California, Maryland or some other "price suckage state", buy what you NEED but don't collect. Getting your value back down the line is iffy.
