This is getting out of control!!

I think now is the time to pick up the phone and call our representatives...I couldn't stand by with out saying anything. Called my districts two assemblymen, and senator. I urge you to make your voices known.. let them here ya. If these bills pass NEW YORK will be less restrictive than NJ.
Please help my fellow statesmen.

Heres the legislative district map. to find what district your in.

We need to stop these before they become reality:(

We can not let NJ fall too!!

congress.org has a letter writing function that lets you send emails to your state officials. Just fill out your information and paste in a short appeal and send it.

If I may add something - letter writing is good, phone calls are good.

Showing up in person before and at hearings to communicate with your elected officials - that is best.

It's a PITA - you have to take time off of work, you have to travel.

I'm doing it all. We have a family tradition(generations) of hunting and shooting that I'd like pass it on to my kids. Even though I believe in the power of the major org.s like the NRA, We have to do more, and take a more active role that just paying my annual fee to the NRA. It's the grassroots efforts that pay off.

Please don't give up. Places like NJ, NY, CT and CA are the front lines of this battle. We should do everything we can to support you. Keep us posted.

Unfortunately, you folks are in way too deep to be helped. Your states have slid for decades and it is practically terminal. Wishing I could do more, but my efforts are being concentrated on the National level and my state where we have real rights. I guess in a strange way, you folks are generally considered hold in an EMS type triage situation. That means, you are in such bad shape that others should be saved first and we will get back to you if we can, if not, you may be finished. Sorry.

WOW, did I just read that? Thanks for being willing to water the tree of liberty with our blood here in NJ. And especially in PA! I mean we're neighbors...

Anyone that cares can support our efforts by giving $1, $5 or whatever you can afford to NJARPC, probably our last best hope besides whatever firepower the NRA can spare.

We're on the front line, send some reinforcements!

Went to the Trenton 2A rally yesterday, then came to the Poconos to enjoy the backyard shooting range with my fiancee and sister. Today, showed my sister how to perform an Appleseed AQT with my Marlin 60 - soon to be an NJ Assault weapon.

The best advice I can give you is DO NOT GIVE UP. Look, here in NY, we thought we were done for. Now, the resistance across the State is growing. Our State organizations are stepping up. NYSRPA has filed suit against the SAFE act, with a well respected and expensive Albany Law Firm. SCOPE is raising numbers to head to Albany on Feb. 28 to personally lobby our Legislative Representatives. Our local Gun Clubs are getting real active. We have made our views known clearly to legisators, even those who would enforce the law (New York State Police). It is not easy, comfortable, or convenient.

I have spent hours following this issue, hours I could be doing something else, like shooting or reloading ammo. But, this is MY country and where I live, my friends and neighbors are also affected and they realize this as well. So, we have banded together to fight for OUR rights. It is starting to pay off. The tide may be turning, our Counties are adopting resolutions against State Law, our governmental lobbyists are adopting resolutions against State law and the citizens are royally angry and petitioning like no tomorrow. I like to think we are just getting started to wage war.

You can do it in NJ as well. I spent time there when I worked in Environmental Remediation. Personally, I hated it. Your gun laws were way too restrictive for me. Your hunting regulations were amazingly draconian. But I noted your gun folks, like me, were battle scarred veterans who fought as hard as they could for what they had been left for rights. Dig in and fight with all you are worth, spread the word and enlist help from whomever you can.

Not giving up!

I just faxed and emailed the entire list, and I'll be making the phone calls tomorrow! Thankfully my two reps are amongst the most pro 2a in the state. Wish there were more like them! I'm also bugging friends to do the same.

Wish I knew what we could do to get Florida permits recognized in PA again. A door to freedom across the river just slammed shut.

I have several friends who live in NJ and NY. I have been warning them for about two years to keep politically active and keep an eye on what their legislators had "in the pipeline" because said politicians were just waiting for "one good crisis".

I got a lot of headshaking and "you are being paranoid" guff from them.

In spite of this

I am now providing a "safe haven" for some friends "family-heirloom" stuff AND I will join in with my letters/emails to the legislators because now, in the midst of the fight, is no time for internal bickering.

However, I do have to get one thing off my chest.

<rant on> Pay attention my NJ friends (the specific people I'm talking about know who they are) because if working together we manage to haul your fat out of the fire there WILL be a day for you to EAT CROW while you serve me some damned STEAK marinated with APOLOGIES! <rant off>

Okay, let's get to work!

In all honesty, it will have to come internally from NJ itself. Without active resistance among the voting populace of NJ, they will do as they please unfortunately. I wish you the best, but what is happening internally? Certainly folks here at THR are sympathetic, but unable to vote limits our participation. It seems to be a lost cause in CA as well.

Listen, guys.

Seriously.

When a State like NJ, or NY, or CO, or IL is in trouble, don't just sit back and say "Too bad, vote with your boots". Or "Glad I don't live there!" Or "You made the bed you sleep in it", or one of a thousand variations...

We're SERIOUSLY under the gun right now in several states, this isn't a "California" problem, or a "New Jersey" problem, or whatever. They tried to ram-rod through one of those overnight-type bills last month in MY state, before NY pulled their coup and accomplished what IL had tried to do.

If you sit back and say "Glad it ain't me, good luck with that", when it is YOUR turn, who is going to have your back?

I mean for **** sake, we have a state which NEARLY passed constitutional carry in 2011 (Colorado, passed the house 40-25, didn't make it to the Senate), putting Hi-cap bans and other serious nasty legislation up for consideration, and it has some damn strong traction.

Earlier, in the Colorado thread, I posted two screenshots of what action *I* could take, as an outsider. Granted, it's not MUCH, but it's SOMETHING.

I've never even BEEN to Colorado, don't have any plans to go to Colorado in the foreseeable future. If Colorado made guns 100% illegal, it wouldn't even affect me.

But I have FRIENDS who live in Colorado. And I know many people on this board who are from Colorado.

We either stand TOGETHER - even for a state like New Jersey with a horrible history of anti-gun legislation - or we fall separately.

Now that I'm done with my rant, I'm going to take 15 minutes of my time, instead of watching TV, to go raise hell with a couple of anti-gun jackboots in ANOTHER State I've never been to, or plan to visit.

Hell, I'm doing it for NO OTHER REASON than to urinate in the flower-bed of an anti-gunner. I want them (or their staff, at the very least) to see exactly what I feel about their rotten agenda, the first thing tomorrow.

Tell them what a horrible, misguided person they are, for sponsoring such a piece of trash legislation.

****(The time for "being nice" is over. If the person sponsored a bill, I'm not holding back anymore. To anyone who might be undecided, I'm still being polite and genteel.)

Together we stand or divided we fall, cliche but true. The more states that fall to horrendous gun laws, the more popular in the long run such things will become at the national level. If it becomes commonplace in many states then the fence sitters in pro-gun states will be persuaded.

I moved from PA to California & while the laws are
draconian compared to PA, I've been amazed at the intensity of the fight to regain much of what was lost in CA. Calguns foundation has had great success in the courts & currently has a number of cases brewing to restore our rights. Some of these states who don't have the judicial activism brewing would be wise to seek out some of the Calguns Leadership for some advice on how to fight the good fight at the state level. It's not Alan Gura, but it is a similar, well-thought out strategy.

"Born & raised in NJ..........best advice I could give ya.........don't go there."

I'll go one better, I was born and raised in New Jersey (still have relatives there) nut the best advice I can give is .... MOVE!!

OP I'm right across the river from you in Wilmington, so I'll be sure to talk to the Jersey folks that I know and tell them to get on this.

Here in DE Governor Markell is ranting and raving some baloney about a 5-round magazine limit so I can feel your pain.
