The Polish P-64 was in production from 1964 to around 1984. It's about 6.3" long, weighs about 22 ounces, has a 3.3" barrel, and holds 6 rounds of 9mm. Makarov ammuntion.
 
I owned a P64 in the past... a very nasty little pistol to shoot. Horrible DA trigger, the heaviest DA trigger I have ever encountered... 20 lb double-action trigger pull... nasty nasty nasty muzzle tilt and recoil that hurts your hands... a pistol that was not meant to shoot 9 x 18 but .32 caliber. My P64 broke after 200 rounds because the trigger action lever fractured off... No replacement part to be found... a great conceal piece to throw it at your attacker and bruise his forehead with... because when you try to pull the DA trigger, you might as well forget it...
 
I'm a little late seeing this post, but I will jump in. I have a '76 P64 and it is fun to shoot. Retro is right though, the DA pull is a bit heavy (I have read up to 29lbs) but I choose to think of it as a safety.

The first time I took mine to the range I put 200 rounds through it and my hand swelled up from the recoil. The solution was to shoot about 50rds max per outing. For me it is quite accurate and very reliable - no jams, FTF etc.

It is not an acquired taste. The DA pull, recoil, and round (9mmM) will make some just shrug and ask why bother.

For those who know the CZ82, think of the P64 as its more concealable, less refined cousin.
 
I have one in which I replaced the main (hammer) spring and recoil spring with some from Wolff. The hammer spring has a lighter rating while the recoil spring is a little stiffer. Now it has a usable DA trigger pull and quite a bit less felt recoil. It still kicks a bit but is now a perfectly viable SD gun.

While they're not the smoothest thing around, they definitely work.
 
I havea P64 and absolutely love the gun for it's concealability and reliability. I carry mine daily loaded with CorBon Powrball 9x18. I lightened the DA trigger pull with a Wolff 18lb spring. Now it feels like any .38 revolver that I've ever shot. A few of my friends have purchased these as well and many people prefer to just get 2 since they are only $149 right now. I'm not sure what happened to the above poster's gun but mine has been 100% reliable and is built like a tank. It's a little heavy but soooo thin.

(The tactical bicycle innertube was not included ;) )

whats the price on ammo and is it hard to find?
i might pick one of those up myself
 
My local gun shops always seem to have a few boxes available but lately they have been a little high. However, 9x18 ammo is readily available online from AIM, J&G, Ammunition to Go, Graf & Sons, Centerfire Systems, Georgia Arms etc...
You can get Brown Bear or Silverbear fmj for around $9-$10 per box and jhp for $1 - $2 more. My favorite carry ammo is the CorBon Pow'Rball. It packs a pretty mean punch (1300fps 282ft lbs energy). My local gun shop has it for $20 box.
