Hello, Can anyone here recommend a .22lr semi-automatic rifle that can fire multiple forms of .22?

the best there ever was , is the remmington speedmaster. been around 50 yrs. you can fidn the used for about 150. otherwise a new model will be over 300, their deluxe will be over 400. Now everybody use to make them , and at gunshows or gunshops you can find them. Savage, springfield, mossy, etc. but the only one that i have found to be totally reliable, is the remmy. And once you get one, you will never sell it.

Well I will add that to gun #5 on my list to buy this year... Thats $5500 now I have to take out of my liquid money market this year to fund my THR mentioned items toy box :D

22

no rifle will shoot 22 mag and 22lr,shorts and longs. it can be done, but it is WRONG. cases will split, accuracy will be abysmal.
try a henry 22 lever, the walmart cheapie, shoots shorts, longs, long rifle, cbs, all very well. no jams.

Sako Quad
you can fire all forms of .22lr, since it's a bolt gun you don't have to worry about if it will cycle when using colibri's and whatnot. 2 barrels, one for .22magnum and .22 winchester rimfire and the other for all garden variety .22lr, .22long, .22short including .22lr stinger. there are 2 other barrels for the .17hmr and .17 mach2.

It's okay if they are suggesting lever actions. I appreciate the info.

I looked into the Marlin lever action. It's called the Marlin Model Golden 39A. It can fire 19 rounds of .22 LR, 21 rounds of .22 Long, or 26 rounds of .22 Short.

The Henry lever action is the Henry Lever Action .22 Model H001. It can fire 15 rounds of .22 LR, 17 rounds of .22 Long, or 21 rounds of .22 Short.

I agree with the above, no such thing as a semi-auto that will fire a variety of .22 rimfire. Closest you could probably get is a .22LR double action revolver with a very long barrel. I've seen only single action revolvers in .22LR, but I haven't looked that hard. My interest was also in a .22LR that could fire a variety of ammo. I decided on a bolt action rifle.

In addition to the Remington Speedmaster (model 552) Remington Models 550 and 550-1 also fire short, long, and long rifle. They haven't been made since the 70's but you can find them for $100-150. Neat rifles; they use a floating chamber like on the Colt Ace conversion so they need to be kept clean, but they work well.

I would say get any tube fed lever action or bolt action or pump action 22lr rifle. You don't have to worry about certain types of ammo not feeding.

I personally like the Henry levers, no stupid safties. And I like the Marlin bolts, if you can find one with a decent trigger. Also have used Tarus's pumps, they are a hit and miss. Have shot Henry's pump, good rifle, but needs a pistol grip stock to help with the pumping action.

I have an old Marlin 60 that I "set up" for shorts and CBs and Colbieas (sp?). I cut off the barrel to 16" and snipped the recoil spring a ring at a time til it feed 100%. I think I had to go four or five rings, but YMMV! Great little rat rifle and trainer.

There are several models that will feed and fuction with all the 22lr ammos. The important question is how you plan on shooting. Are you using open sights, reciever sights, or a scope? Cetain makes, like my highly loved Henrys, don't take after market sights well and it might cost you as much as the rifle itself to get a decent set of reciever sights put on. If you are using a scope, your POI will change with the change of ammo types.

Make it easy on your self, just get a different rifle for every type of 22lr you want to shoot!

+1 on the Remington 552. I'm planning on trading off an old model Single Six for one in the morning!

one more thing, DONT EVER FIRE A 22MAG, THROUGH A 22LR.
mostly it would never happen, because the bolt would not close, on such a round in a 22lr. but if you did manage to actually do this, you would be blowing up a bullet , out of battery, with all the bullet /cartridge, hot expanding parts, blowing apart your reciever, first, then your action , then your ejection port, then your face.
A sako quad can do this, because it uses multiple bbls, with diff chambers to perform this task, it is also a bolt gun, it also costs about 1800. bucks.
