After getting some good feedback on the .270 WSM and browning, I took home a used A-Bolt II stainless synthetic the other day. Seeing how it came with a Burris Fulfield II 3-9X40 and leupold bases and rings, I figured $580 was not a great price but fair.

After building some rounds and scrubbing the copper out of the barrel, I took it out yesterday.

Recoil was not bad at all, feels less than my model 7 in .308, very comfortable to shoot. The action is much smoother then my remington and the trigger is pretty good.

The pictures are both 3 shot groups at 100 yards with sierra 140g softpoints. The smaller group was with 62.0g of Rel 22 (just under 1/4" center to center). The other group was with 61.5g of Rel 22 (touch under 1/2"). Other groups with different powder charges weren't as good, ranging from 1" to a touch over 2".

I am quite pleased at the initial load work up attempt.

Looks good. I also have an A-Bolt and mine likes RL-17 and AA-3100 the best. that's with 130gn TSX and Nosler BT though.

I'm sure you'll enjoy that gun alot.

The 270 WSM rocks, all the speed and trajectory of a 257 Wby with more energy, and burns less powder and barrles. It rivels 7mm rem mag for downrange energy with much less recoil in a short action package. I call that a solid performer.
    Best powders I have listed in Nosler #6 are RL19, IMR4350, AA3100, 4831
Most accurate bullet in mine has been the 130gr Ballistic tip with the 130gr SGK and 140gr AB earning honorable mention.

    Kachok,

I'm actually looking at the 140g accubond for hunting. Care to share your powder type and OAL for it?

Nice, I would be happy with that, too.
I would also like to know the COL you ended up with on your reloads.

All my a-bolts shoot good. I wish they had a drop floorplate without the detachable magazine so one wouldn't have to limit COAL.

Good luck. It looks like you got a great deal
