Haven't seen them before, but I'd pass on them.

Trigger guard is not a separate piece.

Check out what they have to say here:

Looks like it might not be the greatest of buys. Last couple posts by the admin would probably make me wary.

Also some talk about them on AR15.com

Apparently, the PlumCrazy receivers aren't metal. And from what I read on AR15.com it may be that the fire control group is also made of plastic.

Not sure, but I'd pass and go with a more reputable company.

*EDIT*

Managed to find this guy's website I think. http://plumcrazyguns.tk/

I know a couple guys who love them, but my question is Who is paying the $50.00/ gun Federal Excise Tax on these? They have certainly gone past the 50 gun/year law!!

Plastic AR lower? I'll pass. Maybe once it's been torture tested and proven, but I don't want to be the guinea pig.

Now if I could get a complete lower from a respected manufacturer for that price, I'd probably several.

FET is calculated on a percentage basis. ie. FET on a $100 rifle is $11. (pistols are 10%, rifles and ammo are 11%) FET only applies to complete firearms (or kits), not receivers/frames alone (or in the case of non gun bp items, kits that lack a lock).

If I come across one at a gun show I will buy it and test it out. It won't replace my other rifles, but it would be a nice lightweight build for my smaller shooters. Since I could just use one of my existing lowers, I'm not going to be out much $.

I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss these without trying them first. Todays new polymers can be quite durable. And I think you can use standard steel trigger parts in this lower?

The lower really deosn't have to be too tough anyway. The weak spot of the desighn is where he stock tube joins the lower. Wack that section too hard and you can snap it off. But you'd have to fall down pretty hard to do that.

On my builds where a A1 type stock would match the upper the best, I use a Cavalry Arms polymer lower and like it alot. It's strong and light. And best of all, it's color is molded in, so you can't scratch it!

If the FCG is plastic as some have stated, I'd be concerned that there might be issues with it not lighting off .22 ammo.

Also, having now read the thread over at M4carbine.net, I wouldn't buy anything from this guy, as he comes across as an antagonistic know-nothing who's willing to register under false user names in order to pimp his product.

Were his stuff really good, there'd be no need for such ridiculous shenanigans.

I've got a rifle in my posession built on one of these lowers. It belongs to a co-worker who ordered 3 of these. It runs just like any other AR. A friend and I went to the range with two of them and ran a bit of ammo through them. They both ran without issues.

I see almost every review of these is from someone on a site that has very few posts and thus no reputation on the particular site. Unfortunately, I fall into this category since I don't post much on THR, but am on Glockpost.com all the time.

Here's a link to my thoughts there:

Keep in mind I don't work for the company or have any investment in them whatsoever. If you want to hate them, bash them or whatever, that's fine and it won't hurt my feelings. Just don't shoot the messenger.

It's obvious (to me) they are a completely composite polymer lower. So, with Glocks and others on the market since the '70s, and HK91 with polymer furniture, too, it's not so bad. The design is more important than the material when it's taken into account. Cav Arms has a good rep for their work.

Intriguing price point when you factor out all the addon's. Grip, $5, stock, $25, buffer tube - if metal, $20, FET, $11, bringing the lower down to about $44. Bluntly, you could buy forged CNC aluminum lowers in volume for that, given quantities of 100. It's not forged, it's not CNC'd, it's die cast plastic, all of it, and the engineering isn't that detailed. Some parts got redesigned because they would break in plastic.

As a stripped lower it would be worth about $15 bucks to me, the parts kit another $15, add assembly and its's overhead, $14.

There's so little profit on just the stripped lower, and almost no demand for a polymer LPK, I seriously doubt we'll ever see them sold as anything but a complete. Nonetheless, for a .22, it's possibly worth the $140 savings.

I got mine a month or so ago-- I am impressed-- while it is going to be a .22lr dedicated build, I did try my CMMG upper on it, and it ran with no issues. They have gone up in price, and I wish I had bought 2-3 of them....not everybody's cup of tea, but they are well built...time will tell though on the rest..

I would be interested in knowing more about the manufacturer.
The original Carbon 15 was made by Professional Ordnance in Lake Havasu, AZ and I see it says Lake Havasu City AZ on the lower with a large "C 15".
Any connection? I had a Professional Ordnance for a while and it was OK.

I believe that they do offer stripped lowers for something like $79 (or so). Of course, you can get aluminum lowers for as much as $20 less, so, ...

I think I'm going to get one just to try it out. If all else fails, I'm out $125, but every board I'm on will find out about it until the guy gives me my money back.

One of the guys here in Vegas has his SOTand 07 liscense and has built 2 that are full auto. They get wrung out pretty hard at the local shoots and have run just fine.

The pro-ordinance lowers were just dimensional copies of Ar-15 lowers. These plumcrazy lowers are redesigned and strengthened in areas where they would normally break.

I wonder who that could be

If anyone would like to shoot one of our full auto Plumcrazy rifles we will be at the Memorial Day shoot at the "Hub Cap" spot. If you need directions PM me.

PlumCrazy

I did buy one 3 months ago.
It feels like a toy, (Like the Glock did when I bought one in 1990),
I love it!! I have put 1500 rounds through it, 1000 factory ammo and 500 reloaded.
The hammer looks almost like new and the finish is the same as the day I bought it. This can't be said for the metal parts on ether gun. (The finish on the barrel shows normal use, it is a DPMS. It is holding up very well also.
I paid $585.00 for the complete gun and now 4 of my friends have also bought the same gun. 3 of them have bushmasters also and one has bought a lower from Plum Crazy and loves it.
I am hearing the same things as I herd when I bought my first Glock in 1990, it’s plastic, it will never hold up.
It has and it was in my price range.
If I hadn't stumbled across it, I would not have an AR15 now.
AK 47 is cheaper, and has a bigger projectile, and doesn’t cost &900 like a metal AR.

I was looking at one of those at a gun show a couple of weeks ago. The stock and lower were one piece. Should be strong. Most of the fire control parts were polymer, with steel in critical places. They were fairly inexpensive at around $130 OTD. May have to try one someday.
OTOH, you can buy an Aero Precision lower for around $80, a DPMS LPK for $55 and a stock/buffer/tube for $70 and have a proven setup. Hmmm....

i have to of these now and i'm getting ready to buy to complete uppers to finish them out. ican get delton uppers for 360.00,i payed 125.00 for the lowers complete with stocks. 485.00 for a ar15 ain't bad.

Oui knead uh beddur philter ...

Try, for instance, a spelling filter. But this thread is really "entertaining". In what numbering series is the serial number of these polybottoms? KT Ordnance has billet aluminum Franken-Stone AR Bolt-together KT-15 (.223 cal) for $10. That's ten bucks. I bought three. Work fine. Dao.

Ive read alot on them. Plumb crazy just got a le contract so theyre changing the name per the agency. Ive read they are perfect for a truck gun and you can swap out the fcg with a regular mil spec. Im getting one for my carbine upper.

I don't remember where I found this picture.

Buyer beware...
