I made this little mag holder to go with my pocket holster.

I left it open at both ends, but made it tight. It is not a roughout like the pocket holster is. I want the mag to stay put until I need it.

I covered the entire mag so as to protect my pocket as well as the lips and top cartridge. I can pull at the mag from the bottom or push down on it from the top, or both.

I carry the pistol strong side, the mag, weak side.

So how do you remove it from the "holder" with only one hand? (assuming the other hand is holding the gun)

Member Joel makes a very cool double pouch like that but with wings so it really fills the pocket, stays upright, and won't draw out of the pocket when you pull the mag. Something to think about.

That is the weakness of the design. It is a slow system. But, I wanted to be able to carry the mag without it tearing at my pocket, which I fear it would do. Actually I can get it out partially out with one hand by pushing it down with my finger from the top. Then it is easy to pull out. I just grab the holder with my gun hand (no I don't drop the gun when I do that; it works.) Remember, I am carrying in my pocket, not on my belt. I have a lot of things to consider. I'm just happy I've got a way to carry a spare mag. Up til now, I wasn't carrying a spare mag with my pocket pistol(s). But yeah, it is not the fastest system. (But at least I've got a system, whereas before I didn't.)

Thanks for asking, because that is something I had to wrestle with.

A magazine in a pocket definitely needs some sort of pouch. Like the gun, it can get turned every which way, get dirt in it or even try to dislodge the top round (Kahr magazines are bad for this) if just carried loosely. It won't be any kind of fast draw. Perhaps to stabilize the mag a little more you could add "wings" to the pouch, like this: http://miltsparks.com/PCH-M.htm It will preclude carrying anything else in that pocket, however.

Thanks for the link, but yes, I do carry other things in my front pocket with my mag holder. Like any carry system, there are advantages and disadvantages.

Thanks again.

I need more pocket space than you do, apparently. I put the spare mag for the pocket gun on my ankle. I have wallet in left rear pocket, change in other front pants pocket, keys and phone on belt, Pen and notepad in shirt pocket, gun in right front pocket. Other rear pocket sometimes has a flash drive, or the notepad in it, if the shirt has no pocket, etc.
I don't carry change anymore! I also quit carrying a pocket knife. My pockets do get pretty full. I carry my keys in a leather "key case". I usually drop that in my back pocket when I walk around. When I sit I will sometimes take it out. I carry my wallet in my front left pocket, pistol in the right.

Yeah... but you're going to be very unhappy should you need it, and you have to fumble with the mag pouch. Like Sam suggested, try giving it some wings, or something to keep it in the pocket after you grab your mag out of it.

Or I could just leave home without it.

What gun is that? A Beretta or Walther or something?

It looks odd with the barrel in the bottom of the slide. Otherwise cool. What are the dimensions?
