This is what CAI claims is their new version of a Polish under-folder AKM. The receiver is US made and looks like a NoDak. The barrel is supposedly US made and is not chrome lined. Initially it was VERY bad about throwing the first and last round from the magazine.... Like 12 inches away bad....
I smoothed the chamber edge and took a couple metal burrs off here and there. I only had one magazine while testing it with a few types of common ammo.
While not nearly as good as one of my old Valmet's, it does OK for an under-folder AKM.
The Tapco trigger is only 3.5 pounds, but long with no sign of the break... Plus if you over grease the trigger parts with synthetic grease it is possible to get a double or triple if you are slow on the trigger squeeze. A self induced bump firing...maybe. I might created the problem myself since the trigger functions just fine. Light... but long.... It just slides and you never feel any sort of stage before firing.
1st I over lubed it (well everything) with some synthetic missile rail grease. Super slippery....
2nd, I was doing the slow squeeze and trying to keep the trigger just at the release point and not pull any further. (only a 3.5 pound pull) So I was getting a sort of bump firing going on from the recoil unless I either pulled further or jumped off the trigger.
I checked for hammer follow and I could not duplicate the problem. And there is no problem with light primer strikes either.
It only did it with the hotter Yugo ammo, which had noticeably more recoil,, if you call a 7.62x39mm any sort of recoil....
Removal of the grease also helped...
A new trigger will soon be installed or I need to modify this one... I can't trust it just yet....
I came across some Yugo surplus ammo with brass cases. Unfortunately Berdan primed... It is 100 fps faster than most other ball ammo, but this gun does not shoot it very well. The 154 grain soft points from Tula were not bad either....
