Seems like a lot of us are posting the responses we got from our Senators during the S1805 battle.

I see almost all have the obligatory "I support the 2A" in them, and the ones from Senators that are from gun-neutral or pro-gun states but are FOR the AWB usually have the "I'm a gun owner and don't want to take your hunting rifle but..." language in them too.

(Not to drift too far off topic, but even Senators from some gun-unfriendly states play this game too - witness John Kerry and his pheasant hunting. Then again, he is running for a national office. By contrast, my Senator Sarbanes (MD-D) didn't even bother with the "hunting" or the "I support the 2A but..." caveat).

Anyway, my point is: just how afraid ARE the gun grabbing politicians of waking up the hunters and trap shooters to their real agenda (i.e. either banning all firearms or imposing UK/Australian type "leave 'em at the Gun Club or locked up separately from the also locked up ammo; subject to inspection" laws)?

Seems to mean theres a political reason for this "hunting, hunting, hunting" blather.

IF (and Teddy K. railing about banning 30-30 ammo can't hurt) we get the majority of the once a year deer hunter and the (only own a shotgun for) skeet shooters on our side, we can't lose.*

And I bet that's what they are afraid of.

* no offense to hunters or trap shooters. What I am referring to is the "let them ban those EBRs and handguns, I just hunt/shoot skeet."gun owners. One day they will realize that when Feinstein says "Mr. and Mrs. America, turn 'em all in", she MEANS "all of 'em".
