I might add, his shop wasn’t huge, and it just barely stuck in the drywall. It honestly was so close to the breech end from his description(I didn’t look down the barrel) I would have thought a rod might have been a better bet. But he made this jig and had to try it. I’ve wished he had a photo of it to!!!
Built a Jig! thinking he was going to take invest a Squib 2000 Device. when the Hammer & Rod was already invented !

But risk can be measured in the Mess around and find out chart! Less messing around, less finding out!

In general, I agree, BUT… maybe your mission is to “find out” what happens when you stray off of the edge of the page. I grew up reading Elmer Keith and his cohorts, and read how much they “messed” around on purpose, so I rather than seeing “I purposefully blew up a revolver with hot loads,” and “I purposefully stuck bullets to find minimum loads,” as cautionary tales, I saw them as confirmation that “destructive testing,” can, in fact, be done in safe and controlled experiments. In other words, if we don’t “mess” around, we don’t find out anything new - like finding out how to build new cartridges like the 357mag, 44mag, or 454casull.

Agree, and I also would not have shot any of Elmer Keith or Layne Simpsons “Mess Around & Find Out” loads…

Who am I kidding, I would have been there lab rat 100%!!!

Had a case rupture and blow the magazine out the bottom and broke the wood grips on a early in ramped barrel Dan Wesson 10mm.
Load was book max and I've shot 100s in ramped guns with fully supported chamber.
I got the DW used and it had a very aggressive ramp job I suspect may have not been factory.
I sold it with disclosure and got a SR1911 with a ramped barrel.
I've had a couple squibs but no damage.
I did muck up a Marlin microgrove 44 mag lever gun shooting soft Hornady swaged lead 240s way too fast no real damage but the leading was a mess to clean up lol.

Assuming your whining here is in reference to my post… do you simply not like reading? What “narrative,” specifically, do you feel I’m trying to sell here?

Weak mind and weak heart is what I hear from backhanded, passive aggressive whining like this. It fuels my soul to know I’m not built that way.
The narrative I'm speaking about is your "all knowing about everything" that anyone here brings up. That is the narrative.
Weak mind and heart? Naw, just a thoughtful person on this forum. And you?
