Well, there is that. What else are we going to talk about, the Queens funeral?

I am not even sure how many threads we have going hear on the subject but there are a number of them in various forums. Heck, I think you even started one of them. :)

Being silly here, one possible silver lining with this is, depending on what actually happens, it might force me to bring my 16-inch 300 BO back out. As much as I love my 9-inch and 5-inch guns my 16 inch gun really does shoot better and quieter.

Don't have a dog in this fight.
All of my pistols are pistols, all of my rifles are at least carbine length, all of my stocks are set up to go to the shoulder or upper arm.
Still, I don't see why the Revenuers (New Model) are trying to circumscribe our constitutional rights yet again.
    Freaking bureaucrats.
What part of 'shall not be infringed' is too complicated for them to understand?
Are they just trying to force us to take it to the Supremes again?

Not to side track this too much, but much of what we are dealing with not goes back to the 1968 gun deal. Small "pocket" guns like the baby browning, original PPK and such are out. 22's had to start to have SN#'s....on and on.

I can see how people would feel the same way back then as we do now.

I have several sets of American Rifleman magazines from back then. Open one up and the article could be written today.....they are talking about the same things.

It is indeed ironic that this "class" of firearms was created by the ATF. Yet another reminder that a government that gives you what you want can also take it away.

yeah, but in 1968 or 69 or 70… they didn’t send agents to law abiding citizens who was entrapped to buy something they “sold” and collect data to intimidate and punish becuse you are in the “wrong” political party. Weaponing fed boys is a real thang! watch your 6, cover your head. That rabbit is out the box and there is ZERO turning back, now all political supreme leaders will be doing the same to their adversaries

I don't have a dog in this fight either. Never bought an AR pistol or sub 16 inch AR barrel. But I do have the overwhelming urge to do a CAR15 SBR build now that I have an XM177 suppressor in nfa jail.
If I'm going to do a short boy I'm going to put a real stock on it.

I'm curious about the 9 folks who chose one of the middle three options in this poll. Do you really think that most owners of braced pistols will go to that kind of effort? Especially options 3 and 4. I mean, I just can't imagine that you honestly think that millions of owners of these things are going to do that.

I've asked a couple of times in the other thread whether the current procedural rule that the owner cannot use the firearm until ATF approves the Form 1 will apply to the "amnesty". It seems nobody knows. Maybe this is their whole plan, keep the current rule and thereby prevent all the owners from using their firearms for a really long time. (It was estimated that at their current approval rate it would take them 78 years to approve the 40,000,000 applications they expect.)

A section of vaccum tube cut to the right length will work as well!

I wonder if anyone from the ATF has actually attempted to think through these questions?

The funding request by the AFT is to change the Form 1 to add new criteria for braced pistols. This includes photos. It's also likely that when you submit for "amnesty" they will use Form 4999 to determine whether your braced pistol is actually an SBR or not.

If it does in fact qualify as a braced pistol you will receive a stamp for a BRACED PISTOL, not an SBR. So if you were hoping to get a bunch of free SBR's made you may as well cancel Christmas because it's extremely unlikely they will allow for that to happen.

We definitely need more clarification on that. And the reason I say this is because the Worksheet 4999 and the proposed rule changes both talk about pistol braces being unregistered SBR's when shot from the shoulder. And according to the Worksheet 4999, if you meet all of the points then it is a pistol, if you score too many points then it is a SBR.

Little choice for us in California as SBRs are prohibited by state law. NFA should eventually fall per the NYSRPA Ruling but California will never obey SCOTUS, they'll just keep writing Unconstitutional and illegal laws
because there is nobody to smack them with a rolled up newspaper to make them obey the Constitution.

Mine is an oddball. It’s a tc contender with an adapter to take a buffer tube. The buffer tube has a folding stock adapter threaded on and then the pistol brace on the tail end of the contraption. On the front end I have a few barrels that I like to use so a simple nose job with a permanently affixed muzzle device is not feasible. The gun without the brace is hard to shoot with the 14” barrels. I will likely do a full blown SBR tax stamp and all.

Same for my CZ. Shooting from the sling is barely adequate and I've got too many mags not throw another $200 at it.

Ultimately the majority of gun owners will pick one of the approved options, very few will ignore it.
As to which approved option people choose that'll vary as much as people do, many like myself that have more than one affected gun may choose multiple options.
The two guns I knew for sure would be affected, I paid my $200 extortion fee and waited for the Kings approval to make them SBRs, then sold the braces and bought the much cheaper butt stocks at current prices to recoup some of the $400.
At least that's the story I told the wife, to be honest I built another 14" upper lol.
