i HAVE A BABY EAGLE AND WAS LOOKING TO PURCHASE ANOTHER 40. IN A SHORTER POLY VERSION. CAST YOUR VOTE.
 
Well I don't like Taurus.....I don't care for Glocks in .40 caliber.....I personally have never had a good polymer Smith................that leaves me with the XD.

The new XDm feels really good.

M&P, Glock, XD and 24/7 in that order. The Taurus would rate higher if they were more reliable.

Lots of little things, none of which make me want to dump my XD Classic for one.

Different sights, different take down procedure, bigger capacity magazine, interchangeable grip back strap, a little different slide profile.
 
I've got a Glock 27, the shortest of the Glocks, in .40, and I love it. I would definitely reccomend them.
 
of those i would go with the xd personally but that is because i have 2 already and i trust them and i am comfortable shooting them, as a matter of fact it shoot better with them better than anything.

with that said you can't go wrong with the m&p the ergo's are great, the glocks you can never go wrong with,

really this is a personal choice and something that you are gonna have to figure out for yourself get what fits you best.
 
i am very happy with my XD40SC the full size XD is even nicer but a bit bulky for me to carry
 
Any thoughts on the FNP-40? I have an FNP-9M on the way, can't wait to get it and see how it works!
 
I have a S&W M&P 40 and it shoots very well. From NG VI: I also have an FNP40 DASA and like it loads better. Best trigger out of the box DASA I have ever owned without equal on this planet. Saying that I carry a Beretta 96 with a few mods and a great trigger job-Olhasso is an artist!

Not on your list but besides my P229/40 being the softest shooting 180gr ammo, along with accuracy with fast follow-up shots is my, a, Beretta Px4 40, right up there in the quality, accuracy, soft-shooting, and half the price NIB than the Sigs, around 450 - 500 NIB, 3yr warranty, 3 backstraps for customizing one's grip, and excellent mags..

2 best, softest shooters in 40cal, along with accruacy (and especially the Beretta's DA/SA trigger-pulls out of the box, in my guns case, I have ever had the fun and pleasure of shooting.

Some 4000 flawless rounds out the Sig and 6450 flawless rounds out the Beretta Px4 40

The S&W M&P is THE Polymer framed Autoloader to own. It is very accurate and has an wonderfully thin frame. I will put it up against any Polymer frame around. I think that God and S&W got together and decided to make a gun just for me when they decided on the M&P.

The ONLY - and I mean ONLY - other Polymer constructed pistol I would own and operate is a Beretta PX4 Storm - 9mm, .40, or .45ACP. Speaking of the devil - I have been eye-balling that PX4 .45ACP for about a month now. Did we leave the PX4 off the list on purpose? It took me two hours to decide between the Beretta and the S&W in the gun store and I can happily say I made the right decision. My buddy owns a PX4 and when I get an itch to shoot something else we make a temporary trade at the range.

In fact, I am so set on the M&P as the perfect weapon I am thinking of picking up the 9mm Compact version so my .40 will have a playmate.

I cannot say enough about the S&W M&P!

Excellent! I am glad, everything I have read says that I have made a great choice of firearm, plus the fact that the 9m is not going to be imported at least for now makes it even more attractive to me. Just like the CZ 40B, it's going to be an uncommon pistol at the range.


And to the OP, is HK off the list? I have a 12 year old USP .40 that I got used in 2005, and I love it. I have heard that the compact 9 and 40 versions lose a surprising amount of size for only giving up one round.
 
Sorry to stray from the finite list of choices, but what about Steyr?

i might have to take you up on that offer one day, since we both live in Georgia and all. m&p .40 against the xd service model .40!

You might want to be careful what you wish for - I would hate for you to try and buy my M&P off me after you see it in action. Mine is not for sale but if we try hard enough I'm sure we can find you a good deal.
 
the reason i left the px4 storm off is because i shot one in 9mm and it felt poorly built and very clunky to me it could just be alemon i shot but that was why it was not listed
