You do NOT want me shooting without my glasses! I can wear my glasses to bed, (They are flexible titanium, I fall asleep wearing them enough) but they sit right next to my HD guns, and I have a dog and locked doors when I'm in bed, so I should be able to don them in time in just about any situation. At the distance across my room, I won't need them.

Since you placed this thread we did shoot WITHOUT OUR GLASSES, husband & wife.
She did pretty good & I did quite a bit better but with her trying to aim & shoot quickly, like a home invasion while
in bed type deal. My way of shooting ends up being what some people have a name for it, where I just bring
the 357 mag up to mid chest level, push it forward with both hands, toward the target & rapid fire 3 shots at a
distance of 5 feet , 10 feet, then 5 yards, with instinct aiming.
If I try to aim down the sights, even with good light, & be accurate , it is to slow to be a realistic time for a shootout.
In fact if I shoot instinctive I can take in more than the target, I can recognize distance & surroundings & probably
more importantly I could see who is who using this method.
Glad you brought up this thread, made all of us think then practice.

I am legally required to wear glasses to drive, but my eyes aren’t bad enough that I couldn’t hit a target at 25 yards without them.

I’ll try it next time I shoot to be sure.

I'm required to wear corrective lenses too. If you can make good hits on a target that far away with a handgun without missing most of your shots, I'd say your vision is not that bad... I can get all my hits on paper at 7 yards, but my I can't really see anything. I can't shoot for any kind of accuracy, but I can see well enough to hit a person in the torso at that distance. At 25 yards, I reckon I'd miss most of my shots. I'll give it a try and see though.

Yep, they aren't too awful. I've considered lasik though, none the less. I do wonder though if I'd end up with front sight blurriness as a result.

When I say I am pretty sure I could hit a target at 25 yards without my glasses, I mean a man sized silhouette target, and it would be a pretty large group. I have been shooting at 6"steel plates at that distance for the last two years, and do alright. But I doubt I'd consistently hit a target that small at that distance without my glasses.

It's funny, I actually think "Be sure of your target and what's beyond your target." has had me a little reluctant to try this. Like I'd be bending a rule, if not breaking it. It's a good point though to try it out.
