• Possible Downtime Alert

I am working to migrate THR from the current cluster to a new one. I would like to get this done before the weekend, but it's unclear what the timeframe will be, as testing is still ongoing. As I am writing this the new (rebuilt) host is doing a burn-in to ensure that everything will keep running under load.

When the migration happens users will see a Cloudflare message indicatating it cannot connect to the server. This is expected, and depending on how the migration goes this may last from 30 minutes to 3 hours - I won't know more until testing the various migration options is complete and I have finalized the plan.

More information is available in this thread.

As always, thanks so much for your patience.

Poor weather hunting rifle

I use a 270 pre-64 Model 70 in a McM stock if its sleeting and raining alternatively.
Other than that, pre-war Model 71 .348s that are waxed. No stainless rifles owned or needed.

Does anyone have a designated snow or rain rifle? I was thinking of trying to pick up a beat up used 30-30 in the $400 range… might have a little rust, dings on the stock, etc. I won’t deal so bad if it gets wet and I’m not so fast to oil it
I have a Sako M85, stainless/synthetic in 7mm-08 that serves as my "bad weather rifle"

View attachment 1251315Ruger American .308. It has been a great deer gun. If you're looking for a knock around rifle.
I got one in .22-250 with a low end Redfield Revolution scope. almost all my rifles are Ruger M77s but this cheap rifle is just right for my pickup when I go feed cattle. always running into hogs or coyotes. accurate little entry level rifle.

My "high end" bad weather beater gun is a Ruger Ranch chambered in 7.62x39. think I paid $400 new. Not worried about scratching etc. it's also so darn small and light to maneuver.
It delivered for me this season, took it because it was a rain snow mix this day

putting an even more low end Redfield the "Revenge" lol 2-7 on a 7.62x39 Gen II American. Looking forward to seeing how it performs on deer this year if given the opportunity. Its in the rotation anyhow.

I shoot left handed so I have a strong preference for L/A rifles.
Stainless steel for rust resistance. Scope covers necessary!
This is a.308MXLR, but I also have a .338MXLR that’s near identical.
Laminated stock for stability.
