On the local6.com home page there is an article about gun safety classes being an option in high school phys ed. Sounds like a great idea and so far there hasn't been any squealing about it, even the article doesn't get into any guns in school crap it seems very nuetral. Also could someone please post the link for me. thanks

Thanks for the link, I think it depends on the area. I live in Merritt Island and it seems like this whole area of central florida is very gun oriented. The only areas of Florida that seem anti are southeast(miami, west palm and ft lauderdale) and the Jacksonville area. Hopefully they will leave it up to the individual school districts and since its an option any parents that don't like it can have their kids take a different elective sport.

I took the gun safety class in the 60's at school, its a good idea to have kids learn gun safety even if they don't shoot ever again.

I hope so. They teach sex education to keep kids safe. Knowing that 1/3 of households have firearms, shouldn't the same logic be applied to firearm education?
