went to the new Walmart in Factoria, WA on Friday and they had plenty of .40, .45, .22LR and SD rounds. Oddly they were out of 9mm range ammo... but otherwise VERY well stocked... definitely no crazy buying spree here.... picked up 500rds of Winchester .22LR

Just a heads up. I was picking up a few bricks of 22LR this AM and MidwayUSA has instituted limits, at least on the brands I was shopping. Many of the brands were on back-order. I do not recall this happening since the 2009 madness. Ended up picking up the bricks from Ammunitiontogo.com.

As someone admittedly demonstrating very little concern, please tell me which piece of legislation it is we need to act on and I'll have several letters in the mail by day's end.

My lgs in ohio pulled their 223/556 and we're only selling it to people that bought a firearm. They said they would've sold out a few days ago had they not done it.

All other calibers were well stocked though. 762 was a little low.

I have plenty, but I did plan ahead a little bit. I didn't go crazy, but I loaded up enough to keep me shooting for a while anyway. I also have compounents to load more. I might go pick up some more .22 because I can't reload it, but that is about it.

My general rule of thumb is to buy a box of something every time I go into walmart or a lgs. Ammo piles up quickly that way without taking a kick in the pants.

    Top prices so far...

I bought a Scar 17 FDE for $2700 (pre tax) a week before the election. The dealer now has a black Scar 17 for $3400 as of Saturday.

I did pick up a Sig 556 Patrol Swat for $1200.

    Century Aks for $750
    Colt AR 15 $1250 (16"bbl M4 hg)

Prices at my lgs are the same now as they were before the election. From what I've seen their about the lowest youll find.

I've been eyeing a new colt m4 style hbar carbine for $1050, he's got 3 or 4 of them.

Saw a Colt LE6920 complete lower (not a complete gun) for $1000, the week pre-election. Nobody touched it.

Election night, right after BHO was declared winner, it was jacked up to $1500.:barf::barf: And still, nobody's touching it.

Any savvy buyer shopping for a higher end gun is going to shop around. Any gun shop that has raised their prices on specific guns simply as a result of the election can figure on having those guns a long time.

Has anyone else started buying components before they sell out?

I remember 2008 and into 2009 when panic buying drove the market and you couldn't purchase components. This has caused me to pick up a few things when normally I would purchase them when I was closer to running out just because I want to keep shooting. I did notice that one local gun store has sold out of large pistol primers and I just happened to be there when they were restocking. I bought 1000 instead of the 500 I showed up to buy. I haven't purchased things for premium prices and I haven't purchased massive quanities, but took an inventory and purchased more than I normally would. Has anyone else noticed that compoents are drying up?

I started planning ahead when prices stabilized a couple years ago.

It is unusual for an incumbent president to not get re-elected.

Around here there was no panic buying in 08-09 at least not at any of the three gunshops within 40 miles of me. I imagine it won't be any different this time around I do have to go to a gunshop in a town about 20 miles away tonight to pick up some shellholders for my CH 444H so I will no for sure then.

CCI small pistol primes have been impossible to get here, but my usual store suddenly had them back in stock the Saturday AFTER the election. I think all the paranoiacs did most of their hoarding in advance this time.

Oddly enough, today the ammo case at my local Walmart was better stocked than I've ever seen it.

As for keeping stocked up. I see the poor people who get hit with things like hurricane Sandy and are totally unprepared for it. My #1 job in this world is to keep my 3 year old son safe and happy. Keeping a reasonable stock of ammo in the house is as mandatory as canned food, batteries and bottled water. With the risk of this guy getting re-elected and what he might try to do, I made sure that I was prepared before it happened. While there's no need (IMO) for paranoia or hoarding enough to supply a militia, not being ready for what MAY be coming is almost inexcusable...

A couple days ago (Friday) my LGS had all of their usual AR offerings, at their usual prices.

    Including:
Smith and Wesson Sport for $629
    Daniel Defense DDM4 V5 in .300blk for $1,399
BCM Mid length, 16", with troy rail, $1,349

If your local retailer is engaging in fearmongering, stop buying from him- anything. If enough of us do this, they will either learn or fail.

    Walmart ammo panic

Just picked up my sks that I bought through a private sale right here on THR. Unfortunately when I went to wally world to pick up some ammo to take to the range I found their shelves cleaned out of all the popular calibers. The sporting good section clerk told me that its been this way ever since the election. He said they order more ammo every day and are actually putting limits on how much people can buy to ensure that most everyone gets some. I couldn't believe it, don't people know that any anti-gun legislation is probably at least a year away if at all. I know we have discussed why or why we shouldn't panic, but is anyone else actually seeing it in their regions?
