Yes, the Thompson has a 16" barrel. I've considered going the SBR route but really don't feel like dealing with the NFA hassels. I did luck out on the wood, seems to be pretty close to presentation grade in my opinion. Here's a link to a few other pics if you're interested:

Auto-Ord. GI M1911A1 with a Wilson Combat extended safety, and my assortment of aftermarket grips. The faux ivory with the Reaper on them is what it's usually wearing. The faux ivory with the Mercury-Head Dime concho for a medallion (The blurry white & silver thing on the left... ) is for my RIA in .38 Super. The snakeskin ones look sharp, but don't hold up very well.
