I am a new member to this forum, and am happy I found it. I look forward to learning about reloading. I have only been at it for around 7 months.

Have any of you used Power Pistol for reloading 40 cal?

I plan on using 155 gr Gold Dot, speer cases, cci 500 primers, 1.125" Col with .421 crimp. I have several manuals but wondered if anyone had used this combo and would share info. I will be shooting the round out of a Glock 22 or a Kahr K-40. Thanks:D:

I love it for .40 S&W. However I use 180gr plated bullets. 6.2-6.4gr PP is plenty for me.

I have used it in 40 before, but i sold it; still use it in 9mm and 45 acp, it does pack a punch!

I just bought a box of what the store believes is West Coast 180 gr hp.
Have you ever used these?

Factory equivilants

Please, use this at your own risk. I have worked up these loads in a Sig P239 for my own use. Any duplication is your hide.

165gr. Remington Golden Sabres. 7.3gr. @ 1.130" will duplicate factory loads around 1052fps in the P239. I have loaded up to 7.8gr with not much gain in speed.

180gr. Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel likes 6.7gr. @ 1.118" to duplicate Speer's load at 985fps. from the P239's 3.6" bbl.

Recoil with both these loads is stout. for a lighter load, I have been down to 4.5gr with a 180gr. Hornady HAP that just spits the brass out next to me. Powder-puff loads at 672 fps.

It's very consistent and meters well. S.D. is in the 9-12 fps range with these loads and I have had some loads down to 7.

Good stuff. I've used Power Pistol with 180 gr plated bullets as well. The book max load is loud. One time I tried shooting that load on the rifle range, to see how much bullet drop I was getting at longer range, and everyone else started yelling stuff like "that thing's too loud! Go back to the pistol range!" then went back to shooting their something or other crazy rifle magnums.

It's given me good power, accuracy, and modest pressure. Nonexistant primer flattening, especially compared to factory ammo that uses the same (CCI) primers.

Thanks for all your input! This is a great site and I look forward to lurking around here!

I've loaded some Hornady 155 grain XTP's with 7.3 grains of Unique and got 1150 fps out of my 4" XD, on the chrono. I like Unique for 40 loads. I've also got some 155 grain Speer Gold Dot's with 7.5 grains of Unique, these chrono'd 1215 fps out of my 4" XD. That's what I'm talkin' bout.:D

I have used Unique exclusively with the .40, but have only gone up to 7.2 gr with the 155 XTP. The Gold Dot seemed to like the 7.0 unique.

I just thought I'd try some power pistol. The store finally had a pound , so I bought it.:)
