I'm getting geared up for reloading .357 Magnum and wanted to see what y'all thought of these two powders for .357 Magnum.

Anyone like one over the other, and why?

Haven't used power pistol in this caliber. But I can tell you that a stiff charge of 2400 behind a 158 HC is my go to load in 357 mag. Fast and accurate.

There two powders that perform the best in .357 magnum handguns and they are Alliant's 2400 and W-296. If you go with 2400 you will be quite pleased. Of the two it is the most versatile...

Power Pistol and 2400 are two totally different burn rate powders.

If you want the maximum performance the .357 was designed for, you want 2400.

If you want 300 - 400 FPS less velocity, (mid-range loads) using half as much powder, you want Power Pistol.

Power Pistol is at it's best in high-pressure semi-auto pistol loads. That is what it was designed for. It is more similiar to Unique then 2400 in burn rate.

2400 was the orginial .357 Magnum powder in 1935, and is still one of the best for it.
