Pp99c as why not the popularity?

I've been researching a new pistol for eventual carry. The pp99cas sounds great and innovative. Why is it not talked about. Would you give me opinions good or bad on accuracy, how it handles or Any other opinions on it. Thanks!

 

The market is already over-saturated with competing products. If the price is right and it feels comfortable in your palms then it is a good option. I doubt there is any innovation in that gun. The last time I seen something interesting was H&K P7 and that isn't even made anymore.

If you are talking about the Walther P99 Compact AS (Anti-Stress DA/SA trigger system), then yes they are very nice pistols. I had a full size P99 AS and also a SW99c (S&W's clone of the Walther P99c AS that they don't make anymore). Both were great pistols. Very accurate and the trigger reset on them was very short and crisp. The Walther P99c AS would make a nice carry gun, if that's what you are looking at. Hard to find holsters for them if I remember right though. I'm not really sure why I sold them off eventually. Oh well.

I have the P99 AS. Great gun but less expensive ones out there. Walther makes great guns.

 

I agree, the P99AS is a fantastic pistol, but I don't know how much "less expensive" it can reasonably be, I've seen several of them on the classified sites for $450-475 in the last few months.

 

Walther's from the Ulm plant in Germany are outstanding. The P99C AS is a DA/SA striker fired pistol and there is not much of a market for that. Most everyone that wants a SF pistol wants the simple constant action type to avoid the DA trigger pull like the PPQ.

No. The AS trigger a DA/SA trigger. When decocked, the first pull is a long smooth double-action pull of ~8.5 lbs. Subsequent single-action pulls are short, extremely crisp, and about 4.5 lbs (lighter than the PPQ or Glock). For all practical purposes, it works like any other DA/SA pistol without a manual safety (SIG P-series for example).

If a round is chambered, but the pistol is not decocked, it will be in AS (Anti-Stress) mode. All pulls will be 4.5 lb single action pulls, but the first will be longer (the same length as a DA pull).

It's a brilliant system that is well-suited to a defensive carry pistol.

 

My EDC is a SW99c 40. It is the same as the P99c as, except the rail is milled off for a better carry contour. With the flat magazine floor plate it drops into a front pocket on jeans or cargo pants. I have no qualm caring it in a pocket with out a holster in the DA mode. I sure won't do that with my Glock 27. I have carried DA revolvers or DA/SA pistols for 35 years so the trigger doesn't bother me at all.

 

I have a P99 AS and absolutely love it. The DA trigger pull is superior to any HK or Sig DA pull out of the box. It's much lighter and smoother than either (and I have had both). Heck, the DA pull on my P99 AS is actually smoother and lighter than the LEM trigger on my P2000. If you have a chance on a P99C AS, definitely grab it. You won't be disappointed.
