I'll be bringing home a PPQ M1 5" tomorrow and was wondering if anyone could lend some insight into whether a molded kydex holster for a 5" PPQ M2 would also fit a 5" PPQ Classic with the trigger guard mounted mag release paddles (they're far superior to the frame button).

You should not have any issues as long as the models have the same slide controls and other external dimensions. Many holster makers do not distinguish differences between M1 and M2 Walthers on websites. The paddle release needs *a little* extra room than the standard button magazine release does. So as long as the kydex isn't overly form fitting and tight, there will be no issue.

FWIW I have a holster made for a P99. And it fits a PPQ just fine.

This is what I was thinking as well. I have dry fit (not actually carried) my 4" PPQ M1 into a Foxx Hybrid holster for a P99AS (second gen with the longer release paddles) and the PPQ fits fine, just not sure with something like a Black Point (all kydex) holster.

It will fit just fine. I went on Black Point's website. Went to a few different holster kinds and they have the PPQ and PPQ M2 as the same option. Some holster makers go a step further and clump P99/PPQ/PPQ M2 as all the same, depending on how far back they go, as the P99 is an older pistol.
