Practical Self Defense Theory:
1. Invest in quality proven hardware that fits your unique needs. Devote the rest of your time and energy developing skill, i.e. marksmanship, weapons handling and small arms tactics.
2. Pick an established martial art that suits your physical abilities: train long enough and hard enough until you become proficient.
3. Stay in shape, to the extent your physiology will allow. This should include cardiovascular exercise and strength training.
4. Cultivate a proper mind set, e.g. Jeff Cooper’s Color Code
5. Understand the legal policy regarding self-defense in your location.
Shall we move away from gadgetry and hype and discuss a sound self defense theory that people in every niche will be able to apply; any thoughts or idea’s? I’ve seen a lot of very sound advice concerning self-defense. Unfortunately there’s so much nonsense on both the hardware and software market, it is hard to no what to trust. I look for things that have been around for a while; tools and techniques that have been extensively field-tested. For firearms this might include the venerable old 1911 with 230 grain jacketed hollow points. For martial arts, Krav Magna, Karate, and Western boxing have all been used effectively in the real world. The methods of fire and movement, used by western militaries and law enforcement, have proven effective.
I thought this would make for interesting conversation,
Regards
