Price advice request - selling Python Ultimate Stainless 6"

Sorry if this is a dumb question but, could a bright stainless be faked by simply polishing a regular stainless? The reason I ask is I've seen guys take plain stainless guns and, with a fair amount of skill and work, make them look like they were polished chrome.

Sure, a matte could be polished bright...The usual tell-tale sign of an after factory job is a matte trigger and hammer....FWIW, Colt will polish a matte gun to bright.

I have polished several matte guns to bright myself. None of them were Colts, though.

High polish stainless is a custom shop option you can have done at colt right now. I've only sent one (Stainless Delta) back for it but I was really pleased and absolutely recommend it.
The ultimate stainless finish on pythons was limited to a definite period in the production history though, and it doesn't (didn't?) command such a premium. I think people would rather fake 3in barrels. Where the wheels really start to come off IMO is people wanting 750 - 1200 for Troopers, Lawmen, etc. If a Python is $2k, anything with the magic pony on it must get dragged upwards, right?

Back when these guns were in production, the bright finish was only about $30 or so more than matte. Now, I generally see bright guns bringing $300+ more than matte.

I'd bet they have spelling classes too. :p

Dillusion: Imaginary pickle?

How much is a finely crafted and finished, hand fitted revolver worth?

Pythons seemed to be priced fairly nice as compared to a Freedom Arms or Korth. Those would likely be the closest revolvers on the market in the fit and finish department.

A vintage S&W model 27 could also be used as an example, and those aren't exactly inexpensive either for a nice minty one.

Seemed? You mean before today's prices? If that was your intention, I agree. If not, I wouldn't go around discrediting peoples opinions based on spelling errors, if I were YOU.
As for S&W model 27's, THEY are things of beauty. A mint one can be had for about a grand.
And Pythons, I guess even ugly girls need love, have at it. Stop producing ANYTHING and somewhere someone is going to call it "ORGASMIC". LOL!

Seemed, and seem. Past and present as compared to the others at any given time. :p

... and not that long ago, a nice M27 only cost about $500.

To me the S&W 27... while a nice enough gun, is kind of fat and porkey for a .357 Magnum. If I'm going to have a gun that size, make mine a .44 or .45 please.
