price check for springfield 1911

How much do u think a Springfield 1911 GI would cost? Not fired very much (100 or less rounds).
 
Sigh... check Gunbroker and GunsAmerica and see what they are selling for. By the way not fired much still equals used.
 
really, i thought it meant new...lol

i know its used, just thought it may... i dunno... just useless info.

Why would this matter then hot shot? :) To be honest with a used 1911 I would prefer 1000 rounds over 100. You fired enough for it to not be new and not enough to break it in.

If you ever get down to Camp Phoenix in Kabul, check out the roof of the AFSOTR building. I added a few hundred bottles to that mess, and I wonder if they're still up there!
 
Springfield GIs, when new, currently run about $525. I would expect lightly used to be a hundred less.
 
This brings up an interesting point. If someone tells me they're trading a "working" type gun like the Springfield GI after only 100 rounds, I tend to shy away because I'm concerned there's a problem with the gun. Plus, most sellers want only a small discount off a new price but the buyer gets no warranty. I would prefer to buy a used semi-auto that looks like it has actually been carried/shot a bit so long as there is no serious wear. A thousand rounds through a 1911 really means it's just broken in well.

Now, if you have a high end gun that has been a safe queen, that's an entirely different story.
 
nothing wrong with the gun, just never really felt like shooting it. had more fun shooting my p7 and beretta 92fs. since i do not like shooting it, thought i would just sell it or trade it in maybe for another 9mm. been looking at the walther p99's.
 
Kyjim sums it up. Why would you sell a pistol with less than a 100 rounds through it? Better yet how do you really know thats all that was fired through it.

its simple i dont use it......... so WHY keep it.

youre right i can say i fired 10,000 rounds through it..... but did i REALLY shot 10,000 rounds??? I dont lie and thank you for degrading me by saying I am lying to yall. I am just shocked at the way this thread has evolved.:cuss:

I was just looking for a price check, im not trying to cheat anyone, or lie about anything. just wanted some information about price of this weapon. I included the amount of rounds fired b/c I wanted to show that this gun has not been excessively used. I thought that was a good thing. Forgive me for being truthfully about how much i have fired this gun.

I certainly don't think you are a liar. You can easily tell if a 1911 has had alot of rounds through it by how much "slop" is in it. I just think it is to bad you put only 100 rounds through it. Like I said earlier you put enough rounds in it so it is not new and not enough to break it in. Good luck selling your 1911.

A lot of folk buy something that 'looks cool' or otherwise appeals to them and come to learn that they really don't like shooting it at all.
 
Sorry, if I have been jumpy.... I had a horrible horrible week and weekend. Thanks for all yall's help, I really do appreciate it. I think, i will put it up for 350-400 or so... OBO. I have had the pistol for 2 years, its time to get rid of it. My philosophy if you havent used it for a year, time to think about getting rid of it. Thanks

Check for tightness and wear. If in doubt, look up Wolff on the net and replace the recoil spring.

Having a hard time finding ANY Springfiled 1911's in my neck of the woods... Anyone having the same problem??

Nobody is attacking your credibility. How could I without knowing you? In fact, I couldn't tell if you were thinking of buying or selling from your original post. I'm just telling you why I am hesitant to buy a "working" gun with a very low round count -- most sellers want too much and the buyer runs the risk of buying a lemon. I know this is not always the case, or even the case most of the time.
 
Good time to sell?

If you bought the pistol two years ago and bought it right, with today's market I'd guess you would get all your money back and probably then some.

Don't drag your feet too long because guns are coming back into the market place and the prices are coming down.

The only other consideration is that the current Presidential administration is anti gun and there is a reasonable expectation that things will get worse after they complete their health care cluster-%@*$ and can focus on the rest of their agenda. Me - I'd keep it.
 
I know people, who have been enammored with a gun, who buy a new one. They fire it a few times, then in the safe it goes. Later, when they become enammored with something else, they sell the safe queen. This is a common scenario.
 
i paid $500 for mine brand new in North East TN. IF I was going to sell mine, which has about 100 rounds through it, I would probably let it go for $350-$400. They are good shooters, just need some minor ramp work at first.

Bearmgc, I am cursed with the "enammorations" that you speak of . LOL
 
I sold it to a local gun store for 350 earlier this week. While there I picked up a used 15rd Beretta 92fs Magazine, went home and found that it just would not fit in my gun. Next day I went back after work to return the magazine and while waiting I looked down and saw my 1911 in the case.... marked for 675 dollars. I knew their prices were high, but wow. 675 for a used 1911, now I know never to buy from these guys in the future.
