I bought a NIB (actually still wrapped in the factory plastic) nickeled W. German made 228 about 10 years ago. I bought it as a backup to my usual 228 which I was using regularly at the time. The fellow I bought it from had already had it for some years. I haven't shot it and it looks like I probably won't given my other tools that usually see carry and fun. I do have to list the thing in our insurance and have zero idea of its worth as I've never seen a similar gun listed on any of the auction sites or here. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Bob

The nickeled 228 was manfactured from 1991-97. The 100% (NIB) value is $700. (Blue Book of Gun Values, 28th ed., Fjestad) If I read the book correctly, the completely nickeled gun was only made in 1991, and has a premium of $70. If only the slide is nickel, the premium is $45.

Hope that helps.....:)

BTW< welcome to THR!!!!

Thanks for the detailed info Elrod. I was thinking somewhere in that neighborhood or perhaps higher so this helps greatly.

Ala Dan-great advice. We are currently trying to do just that since it seems like firearms never decrease in value and insurances are becoming more and more finicky. My wife is getting ready to sign us up with the NRA sponsored product.

Bob
