My wife has a F/S 22 that she loves. With the right ammo, (CCI Mini-Mags) this gun works 100% of the time. Feed it something else it works most of the time. Yesterday it would do nothing. Pulling the trigger felt like the safety was on. Just nothing happened. I was able to thumb the hammer once, and fire off a magazine, but after that even that didn't work. A trip to the gunsmith was called for.

We stopped at the Gander Mountain where we had purchased the pistol and got the in house gunsmith to look at it. He turned it over in his hand a couple of times, then a light bulb came on and he took the gun to the bench. He removed the grips, and ground on them for a few minutes, and bought the gun and and said "try it". Click, click, click.. it was working fine.

He said he remembered having seen one like that before, and what the problem was the rubber grips on the right side had a little piece of rubber flashing left over from the molding process that wasn't trimmed off properly. That piece of flashing would sometimes put pressure on the trigger bar and push it just far enough to keep it from working, especially when it got any kind of dirt, crud, unburned powder, whatever on it.

He said he had worked on one of those guns for hours one day that had the same problem. He'd take it apart, see nothing wrong, put it back together, and it wouldn't work. Do the whole thing over, until he finally tried it without the grips and it worked. That was when he got to looking at the grip and saw the problem. Goes to show how something small can cause a problem.

Something to think about if you ever have the same problem or perhaps to check before it happens. I understand the Bersa 380 is basically the same gun also.

KUDOS to your gunsmith for a simple fix.
Thank goodness it wasn't more involved, I have worked on and replaced parts in Bersa pistols and am now convinced that if another comes in I am sending it to the Factory Repair Center, they are a PITA to repair and I will charge more than the FRC will to do the work.
