This particular problem has happened twice now today.

I have a kimber compact 1911 .45 and the little pin that rests against the safety has half popped out while shooting. This makes the safety half engage or not be able to engage. Nothing like this has happened before. I have probably about 1300rds through it. I am going to take it to a Kimber Smith tommorrow but I wanted to throw this out here to see if anyone has had this happen to them.

This was a series I.

The tube with the springs that keeps the thumb safety and the slide stop is "staked in" to the receiver. Before you pay a gunsmith to fix the problem, I'd suggest calling Kimber and telling them you want it fixed.

Please know that it's been two or three years since I contacted Kimber's customer service, but I was more than satisfied back then. If their service has become substandard, please let us know.

A local smith can restake the plunger tube in a few minutes. That might be a consideration when it will take some time shipping the pistol to and from the factory for them to fix it. Check the dimple on the thumb safety also.
